Wat Rong Khun or known to foreigners as the White Temple.

Hey there Steemians! Today I want to share with you my trip to the White Temple (Wat Rong Khun) in Chiang Rai.

The white temple is privately owned by Chalermchai Kositpipat, a local artist of Chiang Rai, who invested his own money (around 40 million Baht or 1.2 million USD) to rebuild what was a temple in near disrepair. He designed and constructed everything, making it more of an art exhibit.

Here are some photos I took with my HTC One Max of it.

An overview of the main building (ubosot) and the bridge of "the cycle of rebirth" from the left.

And from the right.

Wishing Well.jpg

Smaller building off to the left of the main building, which seems to have a wishing well of sorts.

A tree made from tiny metal plates on which people write their names.

Golden Toilets.jpg

This beautiful golden building houses the toilets at the temple.

Skull Cone.jpg

A custom made traffic cone, just to show that everything here is a work of art.

I hope you've enjoyed seeing a bit of this magical place! If you ever find yourself in Chiang Rai, don't miss the opportunity to visit Wat Rong Khun.
