Useless information #16 – Bamboo takes a long time to flower

There are several bamboo species and the majority flowers only once during its lifetime, usually when the plants are between 12 and 120 years old. Fortunately, it is great at reproducing asexually. A bamboo forest flowers at the same time and when it dies, it may leave behind a layer of seeds bigger than 50 centimetres.
