We have entered the last quarter of the year and that is noticeable...
I don't know about you but, where I work, towards the end of the year a lot of events and organizational trainings usually accumulate.
You know, Improvement Workshops, Team Building exercises, Brainstormings of any kind... etc, all this king os stuff comes during these months...
Everything aiming to enhance, improve, motivate etc, all these kinds of sound words that you can imagine, in theory, can improve the performance of an organization…In practice, and according to my experience, all these things are of very little use but some can justify having to spend the committed budget before the end of the year.
Yes, it's sad but true...
The fact is that here we are, the 14 project managers from my organizational headquarters traveling to meet with other Project managers from the French headquarters at some intermediate point between the two.
The trip, lasting about 4 hours, was done on a 50-seater bus rented exclusively for us, with Wi-Fi, a toilet and even a nice little bottle of water included so that nothing would stop us from working while we enjoyed the trip…
Upon arriving at the hotel at our destination, a “brotherhood” dinner awaits us, and tomorrow the whole fucking day of confinement in an improvement workshop plus a 4-hour bus ride back home…
All in all, almost two days lost with minimal productivity to meet with those of us who meet every day in the office or by videoconference...
We will see what type of activity they prepare for us for tomorrow.
Well, I'm hoping we can go out for a beer, at least tonight (LoL).
