Kokeshi Doll

Happy Women's day everyone!

I had been making a doll for the past few days and honestly, it was really hard. I'll show you the ones that I made as a gift.

Here is the first piece I made for me:

Kokeshi dolls are Japanese dolls made of wood. Unfortunately I am in Australia and authentic Kokeshi's are not so available. So I decided to start my very own collection.

I started by making the fabric. I want my doll to wear a "kimono" so I started making the the "fabric" from polymer clay.

Then I made a white round head.

Cut pieces of clay to make the " hair" then add the extra fabric clay to make the sleeves.

In case I forgot, the body and head was not 100% clay. I am so concerned that the inner part will get burnt and, it saves on clay too!

Here is the finished doll I drew the eyes and mouth with a regular pen marker. I glazed it with UV resin to make it look like this.

Here is the kokeshi doll I made as a gift. I used translucent clay for the kimono and pasted some polymer clay flowers(I bought that on line) for the design.
