While many 'men' were off fighting the across the oceans in World War II, 'America's Favorite Pastime' was suffering for players. Future Hall of Famers like Ted Williams, Joe DiMaggio, Duke Snyder and Jackie Robinson were all in the ranks fighting for our country's interests. This led to opportunities for younger players, including some record breakers. At 17 years old, Tommy Brown of the Brooklyn Dodgers put his name in the records books by becoming the youngest player to ever hit a home run in Major League Baseball.
