the story of how a gentle ear massage READS, FEELS and SOUNDS like

For gazillion years I've been listening to live acts by electronic producers; Back in the days - the 90s - it already became a thing to have at least one live act on the lineup, otherwise the party was not complete. I must say, last couple of decades I didn't hear that many live act artists who are able to create something special. At many occasions the spark was not there and mister boredom came around the corner, pretty quickly. "Creating a solid, good and interesting live act is not easy", is what my producer friends are telling me. And I do believe them. Heard too many times, good producers and DJs, not doing that well on the live act side of things.

One guy that does it for me, mostly - if not always - touches me when he performs, is Voiski. This France guy - around for the last 10 years or so - belongs to those producers and performers, who knows what it takes to excel. I heard him for the first time some years ago on Fusion festival. It was late in the evening. Although being tired and all since we skipped the night before, we had to go to the main stage where he was scheduled, simply for the reason one of our friends I do trust completely in taste of music, recommended this guy. Tired as hell, this guy was able to re-energise my body and mind again. Well? Maybe more my mind then my body :) The set was simply...AMAZING!

from Soundcloud, description to the recording, written by the team of Dekmantel festival:

His techno sound veers from off kilter and odd to more dance floor focussed, and is never short on intrigue. Characterised by infinitely repetitive loops and acerbic drums, his often analog tracks look to the future for their inspiration and always manage to be cerebral yet hypnotic.

The mix he has served up for us is mostly made of old personal classics and or new tracks made by friends. “Intimate, glimmery and a bit strong,” says Voiski, the mix is a perfect one for this time of year (ed: summertime) and has some “heartwarming 90s trance to smile at with some solid techno to dance to.” He’s not wrong there, because this is an absorbing selection that might well surprise you with some of the more fun and sunny inclusions early on, but as things move on that deep, heady, hypnotic Voiski sound soon wins out with smooth coherent transitions that sound just like an extended track by the man himself.
