The STEP 2018 program was started in 17th March 2018 which was the coach training for all the volunteers. Then, the camp with youth was in 20th -24th March 2018 in Nur Lembah Pangsun where the journey with a new batch of underprivileged youth 2018 started here. We, volunteers, had been journey with them through every single classroom learning (classroom #1,classroom #3, and so on) to few job challenges and they are now well equipped with better communication skills, not so shy anymore, some even become very proactive, all of them become friends for each other even through there are from different welfare homes, and the best part is there are now willing to work with each other to achieve group success.
The marketplace is will be their final job challenge before they graduate from STEP 2018 programme.
The marketplace is where all the youth work in the group and come out with ideas to sell things or provide services to the public. It usually held in a shopping mall and this year will be in Sunway Velocity mall. There is total about 12 groups of them so you will expect about 12 different categories of things to buy or shop from them. The range of items could be from art & craft, food & beverages, handmade soap, Raya cookie, and so on.
The objective of the marketplace is to prepare all the youth to face the real challenge in the outside world (real world) where they have to face all sort of rejection and all sort of the "hand" sign to avoid you. This will be a good opportunity for them to learn "how to deal with people who say no" and for them to recall back all the lessons learnt from past classroom lesson, for example, @maverickfoo teach them how to do a sales pitch!
