Hello, tasteemers!

Welcome to the seventh edition of Kim's Taste! While the sixth edition of this series has been hidden, I have decided to learn from that mistake. It was a testament that I still have a lot to learn.

Moving on, this weekly choice goes to the complex of stalls and restaurants that serve the gastronomic icon of Bacolod - chicken inasal or grilled chicken.

For this week, it's all about Manokan Country.

Chicken Inasal or grilled chicken is an integral element of our Negros Occidental trip. My friends told me that Bacolod City is home to the juiciest grilled chicken in the country. During our we didn't miss to try their best offer and a place to go is Manokan Country.

One a few things to remember when you visit is that the is not as glamorous as you would imagine. There's no air-condition so you will dine in open air, but it doesn't mean it's not comfortable.

I observed that the place was flocked with people in all walks of life. The rich and prominent people also come to the place to try those famous grilled chicken.

Locals and tourists, regardless of social and economic status, dining in one place means that people come because of the food and not of the place.

Their chicken is so juicy that I found it interesting because chicken inasal in Cebu is not as juicy as the ones there in Manokan Country. Another factor that adds to their fame is the sauce. The vinegar is made from coconut sap so it's expected to be of another level. Although there are a lot of chili and other spices in the bottle, the vinegar is not too spicy.

All their specialties, including other parts of the chicken like intestines (isaw), heart (puso), liver (atay), and tail (isol), are perfectly cooked. Everything was well marinated that sauces are no longer needed. In terms of taste, no doubt, it was one of the best chicken inasal I've had.

The price and service are pretty standard. I think it's even cheaper compared to Cebu or Manila. As for the service, don't expect too much. The selling point is not their serice. Eating with your bare hands is also encouraged so don't expect that you'll be given with utensils. Sink for hand washing is available and if you want to have utensils, you can ask.

When you happen to visit Bacolod, don't miss a chance to try Manokan Country's chicken inasal. I can vouch for its taste and juiciness.

I guess that's all for this review. See you in my next review!

Best Regards,
Kim
