Tarot Tuesdays! A General 5 card Spread for Jan 30 - Feb 6

I was inspired by the gracious @traciyork to join the #tarottuesday party! I’ve been practicing tarot privately for about 15 years but I'm finally ready to get out there and help others with my cards!

I know readings can change mindsets and bring true solutions to many. Tarot readings are a wonderful way to connect to your inner self and learn where you can improve.

A Bit About My Deck

My deck The Fairy Ring, (available here: http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/fairy-ring-oracle/) is based in Celtic myths and legends.

As with the traditional tarot, my cards have four suits - but are represented by the four seasons. There are four court cards for each season which have a general meaning as well as point to a specific type of real person. Also there are eight festival cards which represent the chief fairy feasts/holidays which have general meanings but can also point to specific times of the year.

As you can tell from the title, it’s a fairy based deck but the unique thing is each card has a real mythology behind it. Some are so familiar, most of us will recognize them - others I’d never heard of before opening this book.

Over the years I’ve noticed the book’s interpretational meaning works in conjunction with the background story of that fairy/being/energy to provide more insight and definition. For example quite a few cards have to do with material gains however depending on which fairy it is it could mean money received through hard work, or luck, maybe a family inheritance.

I’ll provide the book’s interpretation as well as my understanding.

Choose one card (or 2 or 3 or all - it’s whatever you want) which you are drawn to.

1. Gwyn ap Nudd | King of Winter

Book’s Interpretation - Reversed

When Gwyn ap Nudd, the KIng of the Underworld, appears reversed he indicates power misused, abuse, obsession, violation, insult, the breaking of faith. He may also indicate the betrayal of the sacred for personal gain.

He may indicate a real person: a domineering person who abuses your trust.

My Thoughts

The King of the Underworld is warning you either someone in your life is misusing or abusing you in some way or perhaps you are dominating over someone else. This does not necessarily mean physically, it can be emotional - are you obsessing over something? Or have you betrayed someone in some way? Be careful where you place your trust and be weary of how you assert your power. Don’t be scared to loosen your grip - there is more power in freedom than there is in control.

2. Fairy Festival Card: Samhain | Halloween / November 1st

Book’s Interpretation - Reversed

Samhain reversed indicates immobility, quiescence, constriction, and censure.

My Thoughts

Samhain is that time of year when the veil between our world and the next is at its thinnest - and when this fairy festival card appears it is highlighting that spiritual side of you. Are you feeling like your psychic abilities have been stunted or confined? Or maybe your powers have laid dormant up until now. This card usually appears to those who have a strong connection to the spirit world but when it is reversed something is blocking you in some way. Seek out guidance - the fairies will answer you!

3. Unicorn | Five of Spring

Book’s Interpretation

Where the Unicorn treads, a great blessing follows. He brings gentle healing from the Otherworld. He is a harbinger of hope, relief from anxieties, spiritual inspiration and true joy.

My Thoughts

There’s not much more I can say that the book does not describe. Be prepared for inspiration to swell and an overwhelming abundance of joy, hope and love!

4. Cailleach Bheur (The Blue Hag) | Lady of Winter

Book’s Interpretation

When the Cailleach Bheur appears she signifies the winding down of a situation, endings and necessary change. The end of a cycle before a new one begins.

She may point to a real person: an elderly woman with intense, deep emotions beneath a calm surface. She is philosophical and appears detached but is utterly unforgiving of an offense against her.

My Thoughts

The Blue Hag is a fairy believed to beat down the flowers and harden the earth to prepare the earth for the coming cold of winter. She is a necessary force and wants you to find comfort in the knowing a new beginning is coming. Have you ended a relationship recently or left a job? She wants you to know this was inevitable and fated. Perhaps you have a woman figure in your life like that of which she describes? It may be a time to reach out to this person - to right a wrong in some way?

5. Grim | Four of Winter

Book’s Interpretation - Reversed

When the Grim appears reversed it denotes an enforced or belated change, which you are resisting. Remember that all things must move and change or they stagnate and die.

My Thoughts

If there’s a choice to be made, no matter how hard, it must be dealt with swiftly or you risk losing it all together. You may have many reasons for delay, however you already know the right answer and you must act on it now. The Grim wants to bring you a revolutionary change - don’t fear it - embrace it and let it take you down a new path.

I hope you could relate to the card(s) you chose and the message the Fairies had for you! stop by next Tuesday for another 5 card spread.
