The Silence is one of the films in the Netflix catalog that has surprised me the most along with Annihilation (although it does not have the level of the latter), because it has a compact, solid and well-structured plot, unlike many mediocre titles that are in the platform.
The plot is very close to titles like Bird Box or A quiet Place, emulating them in a tenacious way. The film is about a girl who becomes deaf due to a traffic accident, therefore her entire family knows sign language, which in the future will be a useful resource in the rest of the filming.
El silencio es una de las películas dentro del catálogo de Netflix que más me ha sorprendido junto a Aniquilación (aunque no tiene el nivel de esta última), porque tiene una trama compacta, sólida y bien estructurada a diferencia de muchos títulos mediocres que hay en la plataforma.
La trama se acerca mucho a títulos como Bird Box o A quiet Place, emulándolos de una manera tenaz. La película va de una niña que a causa de un accidente trafico queda sorda por ende toda su familia sabe lenguaje de señas lo que en un futuro será un recurso útil en el resto del rodaje.
Suddenly the news is given that a group of prehistoric animals are attacking major cities in the United States guided by sound, apparently blind. The animals attack in huge herds, destroying the bodies they bite. They are very similar to pterodactyls but in a small version.
After that a long journey begins, many people dying as is typical in dystopian movies. I must clarify that the film is not exactly innovative because precisely as I said before it is influenced by other films of the style but it retains the seriousness to be a good title to put in the same bag.
Repentinamente se da la noticia de que un grupo de animales prehistóricos están atacando las principales ciudades de Estados Unidos guiados por el sonido, siendo aparentemente ciegos. Los animales atacan en manadas enormes, destrozando los cuerpos que muerden. Son muy parecidos a los pterodáctilos pero en versión pequeña.
Luego de eso empieza un largo recorrido, mucha gente muriendo como lo es típico en películas distopicas. Debo aclarar que la película no es precisamente innovadora porque precisamente como dije anteriormente está influenciada en otras películas del estilo pero conserva la seriedad para ser un buen título que colocar en la misma bolsa.
Perhaps the only original thing about the film is the fact that the protagonist is deaf and her family can communicate with sign language, which makes it easier to maintain silence in order to escape from those terrifying animals.
There are painful scenes such as, for example, the family has to get rid of their dog because it begins to bark and emit noise, letting it escape from the car to later be slaughtered by the ferocity of these animals.
Quizás lo único original de la película es el hecho de que la protagonista sea sorda y su familia pueda comunicarse con lenguaje de señas lo que facilita el mantener el silencio para poder escabullirse de aquellos animales terroríficos.
Hay escenas dolorosas como por ejemplo la familia tiene que deshacerse de su perro porque este empieza a ladrar y a emitir ruido, dejándolo escapar del auto para posteriormente ser masacrado por la ferocidad de estos animales.
To be honest I did not have high expectations when I decided to watch this movie, Netflix's horror catalog is going from bad to worse, but I must admit that this title is quite salvageable but not indispensable in our horror collection.
The performances are excellent and I have no complaints, photography is one of the best handled things too. In short, it is not a bad movie but it is close to being plagiarized by others, a good plagiarism by the way.
This film will not be the horror revelation of recent times but it is quite entertaining and will give us a few scares or quite dramatic scenes.
Siendo sincero no tenía altas expectativas cuando decidí ver esta película, el catálogo de terror de Netflix va de mal en peor, pero debo admitir que este título es bastante rescatable mas no indispensable en nuestra colección de terror.
Las actuaciones son excelentes y no tengo ninguna queja, la fotografía es una de las cosas mejor manejadas también. En resumen no es una mala película pero se acerca a un plagio de otras, un buen plagio por cierto.
Esta película no será la revelación de terror de los últimos tiempos pero si que es bastante entretenida y nos dara unos cuantos sustos o escenas bastantes dramáticas.
We also have villainous human beings, but in this case they are a group of religious people who persecute this family, asking that they join them by force. Already in previous scenes news had been seen of how the religious were killing atheists. It should be noted that extremist religious groups take advantage of chaotic situations to exercise their manipulation and power through fear.
We have seen this type of situation many times and it reminded me of the film The mist by Stephen King where a conservative Christian tries to manipulate a group of people who were locked in a supermarket due to a situation similar to the one experienced in this film.
También contamos con seres humanos villanos pero en este caso son un grupo de religiosos que persiguen a esta familia pidiendo que se les unan a la fuerza. Ya en escenas anteriores se habían visto noticias de como los religiosos estaban matando ateos. Hay que destacar que los grupos religiosos extremistas se aprovechan de situaciones caóticas para ejercer su manipulación y el poder a través del miedo.
Este tipo de situaciones la hemos visto muchas veces y me recordó a la película The mist de Stephen King en donde una cristiana conservadora intenta manipular a un grupo de personas que se encontraban encerrados en un supermercado debido a una situación similar a la vivida en esta película.
In short, this is a good Netflix production but we have already seen similar stories. I'm not judging it for trying to emulate other dystopian movies and I did this review trying not to think of titles like Birdbox but it's impossible. The plot is very similar to these movies and is something to mention when making this review. It perfectly fulfills its function of creating an entertaining film, a well-made plot and with good performances, but it will never be a film that will remain in our memory as something indelible. I liked it and I am sure that more than one will like it, especially if you have not seen the movies that I comment previously.

*En resumen, esta es una buena producción de Netflix pero ya hemos visto historias similares. No la juzgo por intentar emular a otras películas distopicas e hice esta reseña intentando no pensar en títulos como Birdbox pero es imposible. La trama es muy parecida a estas películas y es algo que hay que mencionar al momento de hacer esta reseña. Cumple perfectamente con su función de crear una película entretenida, una trama bien hecha y con buenas actuaciones pero jamás será una película que nos quedara en nuestra memoria como algo imborrable. Me gusto y estoy seguro que le gustara a más de uno, en especial si no ha visto las películas que comente anteriormente.
