Parece un cuadro, un dibujo del pasado, en el que apenas podemos imaginar la sencillez de un hogar. La estufa y horno de leña, una pequeña mesita y algunos enseres de cocina básicos componían el ajuar de la cocina. Muchos de estos viejos trastos, son ya considerados obra de museo y me pregunto cuantas cosas habrán visto y cuantas penurias compartido.
It looks like a painting, a drawing from the past, in which we can barely imagine the simplicity of a home. The wood stove and oven, a small table and a few basic kitchen utensils made up the kitchen's household furnishings. Many of these old things are now considered museum pieces and I wonder how many things they must have seen and how much hardship they shared.
El alimento era un bien escaso. En las despensas destacaban los productos desecados (pimientos, tomates, hierbas) y los embutidos, la forma en la que tenían de conservar los productos cárnicos de la matanza durante todo el año.
Food was a scarce commodity. In the pantries, dried products (peppers, tomatoes, herbs) and sausages, the way they had to preserve the meat products of the slaughter throughout the year, stood out.
La alcolba era humilde. Una cama con manta de lana virgen, una decoración austera y con motivos religiosos y en lineas generales, la familia compartía habitación con la descencencia. El orinal no podía faltar, los baños no se construían dentro de las cuevas y menos, sin agua corriente.
The alcolba was humble. A bed with a virgin wool blanket, an austere decoration with religious motifs and, in general, the family shared a room with the descendants. The chamber pot could not be missing, the bathrooms were not built inside the caves and even less, without running water.
En esta foto se puede apreciar la cuna, la mesita de noche con su candíl de aceite y colgado en la pared el antiguo calentador de cama fabricado en cobre.
In this photo you can see the cradle, the bedside table with its oil lamp and hanging on the wall the old bed warmer made of copper.
El aseo estaba compuesto por un espejo, un lavabo, una palangana donde recoger el agua y una jarra para la higiene esencial. Las duchas eternas con agua caliente y los baños de espuma serían impensables para estas familias.
The toilet consisted of a mirror, a washbasin, a basin for collecting water and a jug for essential hygiene. Eternal showers with hot water and bubble baths would be unthinkable for these families.
Las edificaciones en su interior poseen varios niveles. Aprovechaban las distintas estancias para el almacén de alimentos o incluso para poder refugiarse en caso de ser atacados o sorprendidos por ladrones. El techo negro delata el ataque sufrido para evitar la permanencia de los moradores.
The interior of the buildings had several levels. They took advantage of the different rooms for food storage or even to take refuge in case of being attacked or surprised by thieves. The black roof gives away the attack suffered to avoid the permanence of the dwellers.
A veces, se valoran estas piezas antiguas como algo incluso, decortivo. Detrás de todas ellas hay una gran historia, que en honor a los que las han vivido, debiéramos recordar.
Sometimes, these antique pieces are even valued as something decorative. Behind all of them there is a great history, that in honor of those who have lived them, we should remember.
