Acudo a la nueva cita de Club de Poesía (ver aquí), promovida por @freewritehouse. Jorge Luis Borges fue uno de mis iniciadores en ese motivo central para mi poesía que es la sombra; su libro Elogio de la sombra se erigió en una referencia en mi imaginario. El poema que aquí les comparto es inédito en internet (creo), pero editado en mi primer libro y ahora quisiera compartirlo con ustedes. Los versos de Borges son eso: la sombra.

I come to the new appointment of Club de Poesía (see here), promoted by @freewritehouse. Jorge Luis Borges was one of my initiators in that central motif for my poetry which is the shadow; his book Elogio de la sombra became a reference in my imagination. The poem I share with you here is unpublished on the internet (I think), but edited in my first book and now I would like to share it with you. Borges' verses are just that: the shadow.

Sublime imperfección
la sombra
Terrenal excrecencia
de ángel
               a la deriva

Fardo sin peso
sin atavío
prendido al destino
como manso asedio
o inefable epifanía

Traza su errancia
cual nube su paso
sobre la tierra
y se funde en sí misma
como un sol
de vuelta a su opacidad

Sublime imperfection
the shadow
Earthly excrescence
of angel
                 adrift

Weightless bundle
without attire
clinging to destiny
like a gentle siege
or ineffable epiphany

It traces its wandering
like a cloud as it passes
over the earth
and melts into itself
like a sun
back to its opacity
