this series of sunset photos was taken in june of year last year at arawali beach in maharashtra india.
beautiful sunsets at the beach during the dry winter season can be observed daily but from may it is mostly cloudy and gray and the sea is very rough. one june evening though there was a very nice break in the monsoon clouds giving an uncommon chance to get a memorable sunset at the beach.
i had to crouch down in the rough water to get below the wave crests, click the shot and then stand back up with the camera raised above my head to keep the lens from getting soaked.
it was challenging enough holding the camera still while i was crouched down in the churning sea- twice i almost lost my balance. which of course would have ruined the camera. but i also had to focus on the moving waves looking directly into the sun when often times i couldn't even see the monitor. given the circumstances i had to delete many photos but i was very pleased with these posted here.
without me being aware of it my wife took this last photo of me in the water taking the above photos. here you can see how lucky we were to get such a clear sunset underneath the clouds
