Tools and tricks

1.Steem.Supply

Steam supply is the most awesome website to track your growth potential. It's a standalone website that tracks user stats and shows the weekly income you are going to receive.

2.eSteem

eSteem is a mobile app for steemit. It has been developed by @good-karma and currently has a curation trail added to all the users who use the app. You get around 1.54$ per comment/post if using the eSteem app.
NOTE: Not all comments give out rewards, due to anti-spam filters and safe guards so people don't abuse the app.

You can find the app here:

Android: Google Play - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.netsolutions.esteem
iOS - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/esteem-mobile/id1141397898?mt=8

3.Catch a whale

If you are the kind of social stalker and would like to hunt whales, this is the perfect website for you. It shows whales on steemit and their activity. Upvotes comments and such.

Seriously this site creeps me out a bit.

4.Steemdb

Steam DB has everything you can need to check your stats, vote power, income, votes, flags.
You just need to type your account in the right corner and you will be greeted with enough info to keep you busy for hours.

Advice

This section from the article will contain only advice I've found very beneficial when roaming around in steemit

1. The most important thing on the whole platform. [Be Polite]

Remember that steemit is a blog platform where people come to share their life's, share they everyday experience and write about what they see interesting. Unless you want to attract a ton of flags and get rep destroyed, I'd recommend being polite.
Even if someone made 1000$ of sharing a picture of a potato, its still content. Have respect for other people. We are one big family and we need to support each other. Maybe if you are polite the 1000$ of the potato post can go to that person's SP and he might follow you and upvote you.

2.Read and comment

If you are going to comment spend a minute to read what that person had to say. I see a lot of people blasting random comments with absolutely no synergy what so ever. If you are using the eSteem app a quality comment will get you 1.5$ instantly without the author.

3. Resteem.

Resteeming is a good practice to do. You get rewards from it and there is one little thing that people ignore when it comes to resteeming. Once you resteem something the author gets a pop up above the post in his blog seeing who resteemed it.
Therefore he knows who supports him and gives back the same in return.

4. Follow wisely.

Follow people that support you in exchange for your support. Equal exchange goes a long way and is beneficial for everyone.
There is nothing better than constantly getting support from people that see that you are interested in what they do.
They invest in you because you invest in them. Giving you SP/SBD to grow and support each other even more.

5.Don't judge followers.

You might be asking yourself: Why do I have 600 followers but only get 25/30 upvotes per post?
Well people with low to nothing SP don't bother upvoting as they don't do anything. Don't worry once they have sufficient SP they will start voting to get more SP payouts as curation rewards.

What will never work.

These things are most likely to ruin your reputation and probably lower you to the point where you can't even publish posts because no one can see them.

1.Spam

Don't spam. Just don't. You will end up crashing and burning faster than a space ship falling from orbit.
People hate spam and posts with meaning equal to a toaster. Also, don't spam the eSteem app as you will get blacklisted.

2.Begging

This is one of the ugliest things to see here. Posts saying catch phrases to catch peoples attentions are disturbing.
Example: Good thing I decided to follow you! Afterward seeing that the person never did follow you.
This will just show people that you aren't a quality person looking to evolve and prosper as an individual on steemit.

3.Fake Follow

People, please don't turn this into Instagram. Adding 1k people in your follow list just to remove them 2 days after when they return the following. This gets you nowhere. At the end, you get a lot of followers that ignore your posts as they have 0 meaning.
Rather invest some time and see how to be good at writing and making a better post. People respect the content not only the quality.

4. Bombarding articles with 0 quality

It is better to invest an hour or two to post some quality stuff rather than spending an hour to post 200 articles that contain one picture or some ripped off stuff from the internet. You will make more from the quality post compared to all the shitty ones gathered all together.

If you would like to help people benefit from this, resteem and help the community evolve.
