Morale of Troops Remains High

Nearly three months after Daesh-inspired Maute group siege on Marawi City, government security forces are still struggling to flush out the militants from the Islamic city despite employing the full might of the military.

Colonel Edgard Arevalo, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Public Affairs Office chief, said the dragging Marawi City rebellion is taking toll on the soldiers, who are getting tired due to the protracted war with Daesh-inspired terrorists.

Colonel Arevalo, however, stressed that the soldiers continued to be on high morale due to the support being extended to them not only by the government leadership but also from the civilian sector.
