Today I decided to create this challenge inspired in @lymepoet’s post where she told us about why she chose her username.
Hoy decidí crear este reto inspirado en el post de @lymepoet, donde ella nos contó sobre el por qué escogió su nombre de usuario.
I’m totally sure there is a story behind the names we all use to identify ourselves in Steemit, and personally I’ve seen some particular names that make me wonder about how they decided to use it or create it. Curious to know what everybody else have to say about his/her Steemit name? Well, be part of this challenge and you’ll know the deepest secrets about your followers and friends in our community.
Estoy completamente seguro de que hay una historia detrás de los nombres que usamos para identificarnos en Steemit y, personalmente, he visto algunos nombres en particular que me hacen cuestionar sobre cómo decidieron usarlo o crearlo. ¿Te da curiosidad saber lo que los demás tienen que decir sobre su nombre en Steemit? Bueno, sé parte de este reto y sabrás los secretos más oscuros sobre tus seguidores y amigos en nuestra comunidad.

My steemit name, @felobtc, comes from two words:
btc, the acronym for Bitcoin. I started paying attention to cryptoworld through Bitcoin since late 2015 when I was looking for any way to secure a passive online income. I must recognize that at the beginning, I got scared of BTC reputation given the association with delinquency and money laundering but after an extended investigation, I am a crypto-advocate ‘cause I know the future of money is there.
felo… that’s my nickname in real life hehehehe. 7 or 8 years ago, maybe, I was having some beers with a couple of friends. It was Saturday night and we were having a good time with them. Among all themes we talked, one of my friends started calling me “felo” and I asked him why he named me in that way, so he explained me that in Argentina, men whose first name was Felipe (that´s my real name, by the way) were nicknamed “felo”. Since that particular moment, every person I meet and that have the opportunity to talk to my friends call me “felo”. Later, I found out that not only in Argentina, but also in all the Latin American countries - except Colombia - my name is associated with Felo.
Mi nombre de Steemit, @felobtc, viene de dos palabras:
- btc, las siglas del Bitcoin. Empecé a ponerle atención al criptomundo a través del bitcoin desde finales de 2015 cuando buscaba alguna manera de asegurar un ingreso pasivo en línea. Debo reconocer que, al principio, me dio miedo la reputación del bitcoin dada la asociación con la delincuencia y el lavado de activos, pero después de una investigación bastante extensa, soy un defensor de las criptomonedas porque sé que el futuro del dinero está ahí.
- felo… ese es mi apodo en la vida real hehehehe. Hace 7 u 8 años, tal vez, estaba tomándome unas cervezas con un par de amigos. Era sábado en la noche y estábamos pasándola bien con ellos. Entre todos los temas que hablamos, uno de mis amigos empezó a llamarme “felo” y le pregunté por qué me llamaba de esa forma, así que me explicó que en Argentina, a los hombres cuyo primer nombre era Felipe (por cierto, ese es mi nombre real), eran apodados “felo”. Desde ese momento en particular, cada persona a la que conozco y tiene la oportunidad de hablar con mis amigos, me llaman “felo”. Después, me di cuenta que no solo en Argentina sino que en todos los países de América Latina, excepto en Colombia, asocian mi nombre con Felo.
Now, if I could change my Steemit name, I would choose “balrog” as a username ‘cause I love this creature (this one appears in “Lord of the Rings” movie).
Ahora, si pudiera cambiar mi nombre de Steemit, escogería “balrog” como nombre de usuario porque me encanta esta criatura (ésta aparece en la película “El Señor de los Anillos”).
