When we first hear the word you can think about like the photo above, because its a trend or you're just a man. But did you know that the word cleavage is derived from biology?.
Cleavage is any of the series of divisions by which a fertilized egg develops into a new individual or embryo. The young animal begins life as a fertilized egg. The uniting of the male reproductive cell (sperm) and the female reproductive cell (egg) begins the activity of this new embryo or young animal.

This fertilized egg (zygote), begins development, but the rate is not the same in all parts. To describe this difference in growth rate, or metabolism, certain terms are given for different parts of the egg. The end where concentration of living protoplasm is greatest is called the animal pole, while the end where the concentration of food is greatest called vegetal pole. Natural development is more rapid at the animal pole than at the vegetal pole.
In cleavage the first two divisions, not simultaneously but one following the other, usually cut through the poles of the egg at right angles to each other. The third cleavage cuts the egg between the poles at right angles to the polar axis and a little nearer to the animal pole. All these cleavages result in eight cells, the four at the vegetal end being a little larger than the others.
Therefore i conclude the word came from a pervert scientist lol just kidding.
