STEEMIT CULINARY CHALLENGE #37 - Winners & New Theme - Everyone Welcome for SBD Prizes!

Much appreciation to last week's guest judge @ch00fy for giving us the theme "Food Fit for a German" and taking the time to choose the winning entries!  As @ch00fy is head chef at a restaurant in Austrailia that specialises in German cuisine, the pressure was on for participants to create something that @ch00fy and any hungry German would give a thumbs up to!  However, everyone did indeed do the Germans proud and managed to present some really wonderful dishes.  Some of the entrants prepared traditional German foods, whilst others took inspiration from these foods and gave them unique creative twists.  All-in-all they were spectacular in presentation and clearly much effort was put into making them, and so both @ch00fy and I were extrememly impressed... yet again!!!  @ch00fy posted his own 'non-entry' for this German theme - German style mustard meatballs with Bavarian cabbage - so please check it out and show your support for our friendly foodie buddy!

The theme for this week is really fun... scroll down to find out what it is!  We have an additional bonus prize this week of 5 SBD generously donated by @heart-to-heart.  This bonus prize will be specifically for a vegan recipe, though understand your entry isn't required to be vegan, only if you want a chance to win this prize.  @heart-to-heart is very keen to encourage healthy food choices in others, as she does in her own life, so why not try grabbing her attention and bagging this prize by creating the healthiest vegan entry you can for this week's theme!  Scroll down for all details ;-)

CHANGES TO RULES - PLEASE READ!

Before we progress to admiring the winning entries, I must first point out a few changes to the RULES.  I didn't make it clear enough before, so now I'm making it really clear!  These clarifications are now in the rules section below, but I will point them here so there's no excuse for missing this important info.  Please remind yourself of the other rules by scrolling down... there are 8 altogether and they must be adhered to in order for your entry to qualify.  Entries that fail to follow the rules will be disqualified.  These rules are in place to ensure fairness to all participants, and there's no 'wriggle room' I'm afraid!

* Only new entries that have been created in response to the weekly theme will be accepted.  No old recipes from blogs elsewhere, no re-submitting archived recipes from your Steemit blog.

* You must take step-by-step photos of the process, no matter how simple.  Not only do we need to verify that the dish was indeed made entirely by you, it's also helpful for others who wish to follow your recipe and make your dish.

* Each photo must display a sign saying "Steemit + the date + your @steemit-account-name.  Previously the rules allowed you to simply write your name on each photo to claim them as yours, or to take a photo of you eating the finished dish.  But that still enables old recipes to be passed off as new, so neither of these are allowed from now onwards.

For those of you who have never entered this challenge before - it's very easy, just SCROLL DOWN for this week's THEME, RULES and PRIZES.  You don't have to be a master chef - just try to be creative with your recipes and take beautiful photos, since unfortunately we can't taste the entries so you must help us do this with our imaginations!  Original recipes are encouraged, but you may use someone else's recipe as long as you credit the original source.

Most Creative Entry - "GERMAN POTATO SALAD WITH PORTOBELLO SCHNITZELS" by @lenasveganliving 5 SBD sponsored by @englishtchrivy

4th Prize "Baked Sauerkraut Balls" by @ikaputri3 5 SBD sponsored by @sirwinchester

@ch00fy comments: "One of the most creative ideas from ikaputri3 - you have created what could be one of my favorite future bar snacks. So clever and giving the dish a real German twist. Superb fusion!"

3rd Prize "Strudel with apples and Viennese coffee" by @kenjiby 10 SBD sponsored by @gringalicious

@ch00fy comments: "Not the easiest thing to make from scratch so big respect, but looks like it was very well executed and most importantly really expressed a German favorite so thank you so much for preparing a fantastic strudel!"

2nd Prize "Zwetschgendatschi, German Plum Cake (with a twist)" by @jaymorebeet 15 SBD sponsored by @gringalicious

@ch00fy comments: "This recipe really touched my sweet spot (which I don't have mostly as I love savory) but by this I mean your dish was similar to my mother's cherry crumble and for this reason it made my mouth water! I love your fresh ingredients and again you were able to detail your recipe so well! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it! Well done @jaymorebeet!"

1st Prize "German Style Meal, Chicken Schnitzel, Schichttorte and Orangensaft" by @tioluis 20 SBD sponsored by @gringalicious

@ch00fy comments: "Your detail was superb and you really made a huge effort that can't be under-rated. Your step by step instructions were brilliant and photos worked perfectly. You followed every rule and I would most certainly eat your dishes!"

Our guest judge for this week is the lovely @patelincho, nail designer, mother of two, and wonderful cook from Bulgaria.  If you follow her blog you'll see she's an upbeat optimist, always giving us interesting and pleasant things to read!  She has become very involved with the Whaleshares project, designed to help minnows get votes from whales (more info here).  She has very kindly offered to spread 100 whaleshares amongst the entries for this week, which is very generous so thanks very much for that @patelincho!  Another thing you'll have noticed if you follow her blog is that she vies to give her children healthy meals rather than processed or sugary foods... Not always an easy task, particularly when children have a social life and want to eat everything their friends are eating!  But as parents all we can do is try our best to keep our children healthy and happy, and get inspiration from each other in making healthy food appetising and exciting to eat.  When I was a child 'healthy food' pretty much meant sticks of raw carrot and celery, but that's not half as interesting as pizza and chips, so then who wants the celery???  But if we can do something exciting with the raw veg (or whatever) then that's half the battle won!  So, the theme @patelincho has chosen for us this week is...

Please note - you're not required to make your entry vegan, but if you would like a chance to win some extra SBD then you can make it vegan and simultaneously make @heart-to-heart happy!
