Whales On Steemit Should Act Like Talent Agents

How Should The Whales Be Voting

As I sit here pondering what the job of the whales on steemit truly was I came up with this comparison. They should be acting almost exactly in the capacity of a talent agent.

Find the posts from new users that are actually quality, upvote that user maybe once maybe a few times until that user has a decent little following. After that the whale can take off and let the people naturally upvote the posts. The value of the posts will go down from potentially thousands to hundreds but in reality until the wealth is distributed more the hundreds are actually a closer representation of the voting from the actual people not trying to get rich from following whales around. I believe this is what has happened to stellebella.

Get In, Upvote, Promote, And Get Out

I truly feel like the most positive impact a whale can make would be to promote quality, and then leave. Sticking around paying certain users massive amounts of money just pisses the rest off, not having a presence makes for lower paid posts and less interest. So as far as I see it the sweet spot would be right in the middle somewhere promoting the users the whales enjoy and then once it's growing organically getting the hell out of the way. At least until the majority of voting power isn't held in the top minority. When it's distributed more throughly it won't matter as a minority won't have the power to swing the votes but right now they do. So as far as what influence should a whale have on steemit when it comes to using their votes I believe this is really all they should be doing right here.

Help someone get started, get their page growing organically, and then get out.
