Why are you still using Steemit.com?

image.png

We all know Steemit.com is not advancing as fast as we would like and it seems clear Steemit Inc is more focused on the blockchain side of the platform than the UI, and that's fine.

There are other options available, and in time there will be even more. While I have not been thrilled by the options available, as they are better in many ways but in some ways, they add frustration until now.

Enter SteemPeak

A new front end to the Steem blockchain is available and it has years of innovation over Steemit.com. It has many of the features I want out of Steemit.com and more. It's not perfect, but it is such a huge step forward from Steemit.com at the current rate of innovation I'd say it is 5+ years ahead of Steemit.com.

No beneficiaries!

Before I get far into this, the first question most people will ask is "Does it have beneficiaries?". The answer is no. From what I hear, there will never be beneficiaries on SteemPeak.com.

What's so great about SteemPeak?

Modern UI

While not everyone will like the large format and high use of whitespace, I love it. I have suggested an option to have a smaller version of blog posts as I know this will come up for many people.

There is also a layout that is similar to Pinterest if you like that style. While it is more efficient, it's not my style and too busy. While many other features I will present can fall under modern UI, I am going to give them their own section.

Hide Resteems

One of the number one requested features for Steemit.com is the ability to hide resteems from your profile page.

This feature is built-in and can be easily toggled on or off.

Post Value

One feature that I love from SteemPlus is the ability to see who voted on a post or comment and for how much. In the past, this required a Chrome or Firefox extension, but this is standard with SteamPeak. Even better, you don't even have to open the post and you can see it directly from the profile page.

Want to know more? Click on the vote number and you can see a full list pop-up that shows all the votes and their amounts.

Scheduled Posts

This is another feature many people have been waiting for. I originally planned to create a service to offer post scheduling with additional functionality but found out it was already being worked on.

SteemPeak has post scheduling built-in!

Drafts and Templates

Similar to Busy.org, SteemPeak has drafts, but that is not all. SteemPeak also has templates you can use for frequently posted layouts for regularly posted content.

When creating a post you can opt to save it as a template to re-use in future posts.

A wallet that works!

I have numerous issues in Github on all the UI issues with the wallet page on Steemit.com. I feel this is a huge problem as the wallet is the most important page on Steemit.com for most users and it also has the most bugs. There are numerous display bugs that have plagued the wallet page for well over a year. Not only is this frustrating for new users, it is confusing and greatly reduces trust.

The wallet page on SteemPeak is fantastic.

Want to automatically filter out 0.001 spam memos? No problem!
Quickly filter incoming or outgoing transactions or even Search your wallet.

Speed

SteemPeak is fast, really fast. Go try it, nuff said.

Activities

Similar to the wallet page, there is an activity page with filters and a search ability.

Want to see the last time @dlive upvoted you? Just do a search and filter by votes. You can even go back in history by hitting load more activities as far back as you like.

How freaking awesome is that?
Did I mention it is fast?

# Notification

There are built-in notifications by checking your recent activities. I'd like to see desktop notifications like Busy.org and will suggest it next time I have a moment with them.

Comment rewards

Similar to post rewards, you can easily see who voted up your comments without even opening them.

Inline gifs

This feature is awesome, and most won't even notice they never had it. I am a huge fan of this feature.

Search

I hate having this feature so low, but this one will blow your mind. I have heard so many complaints about Steemit.com search and many people talking about making a third-party search solution. Well, SteemPeak has awesome search, built right in and it doesn't use Google!

Some work is being done on the ranking algorithm, right now it isn't perfect. The search functionality is powered by AskSteem search engine.

Grid Mode

While not my favorite view, I am told it is extremely popular with SteemPeak users. You can easily switch between this view and the default view.

Dashboard

Now this feature is freaking awesome.

You can also click the load more data button to look further back. This is built-in to the UI, and instantly accessible to all users!

Guaranteed Steemit Minimum Income

This is a clever tool to figure out how much you can expect to make on a monthly basis. While there is no way for it to be 100% accurate, it looks at your reliable incoming votes and gives you a baseline estimate based on current market price and how many posts you plan.

You can toggle and customize each vote if you think you have a better estimate of what to expect. If you want to understand GSMI better, check out the post describing it.

Bookmarks

Got a post you like? Want to save it? That's where bookmarks come in. Any post can be bookmarked for reading later or saving for reference.

Conclusion

SteemPeak is already so far ahead of Steemit.com development, and working on a shoestring budget. I'm finding it hard to justify using Steemit.com when SteemPeak is better and faster in just about every way.

Give it a try, tell them I sent you. I'd love to hear what you think about it. What you would like to see changed and what you didn't like.
