Steemit vs Facebook – Stat Comparison (May 2017)

I love statistics that @stephenkendal is sending daily, but they lack one important element – comparison!

Let’s see who has bigger… community support

News are getting better for Steem every day. According to data compiled by our own @stephenkendal, we are already producing four blogs per minute! Excellent, you would say. Until you see competition:

Every 60 seconds on Facebook: 510,000 comments are posted, 293,000 statuses are updated, and 136,000 photos are uploaded. Data updated on May 8, 2017.

Well yes, Steemit still has small community of some 160.000 members, while Fakebook has at its disposal almost 2 billion members (1.94 active users by their data), but I like to measure with the greatest, so I’ll monitor this relation with pleasure. Anyway, let's not forget rest of the bunch:

Active users
• Instagram – 600 million (Source: Instagram on December 21, 2016)
• WhatsApp – 500 million (Source: CNBC)
• Twitter – 284 million (Source: CNBC)

We are still far from the Big League, but we are rising, and hopefully soon will be among those listed here:

On that smartinsights.com pie chart we have already massively overtook WordPress, which means our placement is just a matter of editor’s awarness.

Let’s start then monthly monitoring with May, and with the biggest:

Active users (roughly)
F: 1,940,000,000
S: 150,000

(I hope I didn’t miss any zeros 😊)

Posts in a minute (roughly)
F: 293,000
S: 4

Paid to users (exactly)
F: $0
S: $283.990.196

(Data from May 20th, 2017, 8:45)

That’s just for starters to get some sense of proportion. Feel free to comment and deliver newer & more accurate data.

See you in June!
