Stat Comparison: Steemit vs Facebook — A Killer App!

SMT - 2017-09-29_221259.jpg

[Текст на српском] At the end of September Ned Scott, CEO of Steemit, announced a new era in platform developement, giving to users who do not know anything about computer programming, unprecedented power. It is called Smart Media Tokens! (SMT)

Why is this such a good news? Because now everyone can easily create own decentralized cryptocurrency and launch an ICO on the Steem blockchain! Our member @dragosroua posted an excellent short explanation on what SMT really means. He put it really nicely in just three short sentences:

What world wide web did to information 20 years ago, the blockchain does to currencies now. We're in the middle of a revolution. A revolution that will democratize money the same way web democratized publishing.

Fantastic! Really, what can go wrong?

Well… Now Mark Zukerberg can also make his own token and save Fakebook from a looming disaster. But let's see how close to the disaster he was before this announcement… 😊

Number of posts was a vague statistic element, because we really didn't have any confirmation does it mean all posts or only posts without comments. Since at Fakebook comment counts as a post, then we'll go with the number of posts and comments combined at Steemit, which is a clear sign of activity. For this element we'll use an excellent daily reports by @penguinpablo.

In September number of registered accounts jumped from 337,420 to 390,587!
