Steemit Investigates Security Breach and Theft for $ 85000 in Steem

Steemit, Reddit loves social media platforms in blockchain that allow people to monetize their content to have reported a security breach. The incident has caused some user accounts to be interrupted.

Ned Scott, CEO of Steemit has announced the possibility of more than 200 user accounts compromised and theft of approximately $ 85,000 in Steem and Steem Dollars. The platform is currently working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Cybercrime and Bittrex authorities to investigate the hacking incident.

Steemit has so far identified the compromised account and restored access to its rights owner. The platform has announced that it will return affected users who have lost their Steem deposits during the hacking period.

Steemit has urged all users to reset their login credentials to prevent further violations of potentially compromised accounts. However, Steemit expects some users to face problems when resetting their login credentials, especially those who have not signed up using their social media accounts. For such users, the platform will provide support to enable them to regain access to their respective accounts. Those who can not reset their credentials are required to contact Steemit to resolve the issue quickly.

Steemit currently runs in limited capacity with deposit and withdrawal Steem is disabled until Bittrex completes the Steem wallet analysis to ensure security compliance. Steemit is confident of a complete service recovery in the coming days.

Steemit also asks users to choose unique keywords for those three keys, Owner Key, Active Key and Post Key associated with each account so they can continue posting on the platform using their 'Posting' keyword.
