Steemimg.com has been migrated successfully and is back online!

Thank you everyone for your patience during the down time. You may now continue to upload your images to http://steemimg.com.

So What Actually Happened?

Since starting Steemimg about 3 months ago (Wow time flies!) there has been over 79,000 images uploaded for use here on Steemit from over 2000 users which is awesome but also maxed out my initial server purchased for the project. It was a simple virtual server to say the least and didn't have much in the way of resources, so it was bound to happen at some point. The reality is that since the site saves 3 versions of each image hosted (medium, thumbnail, and original) the max file limit was reached rather quickly.

So What Now

Currently I have moved the main site along with most of the 230,000 images to a new dedicated virtual server with a hell of a lot more resources and will be hosting most of the uploaded images off the server on a google cloud storage server. I will be monitoring the upload volume and potential long run cost of hosting the images. When I come to a more concrete price, I will come up with a more long term plan, but for now this seems very reasonable.

Thoughts?

Let me now your thoughts about the change and any ideas anyone might have for more long term solution.

Also Anyone that had a problem getting verification emails , this should be solved, if not please comment and let me know.

Thank You Steemit community for continued support!
