Faith is the substance of things hoped for evidence of things not seen.
But i define faith as the confirmation of guarranted conviction of their reality and faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experience by the physical senses.
Hebrew 11vs4 says it was by faith that Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain,Through which it was testified of him that was upright ,in standing with God and God testified by accepting his gift,an though he died yet through this common act of faith he still speaks

Even God in the book of Hebrew 11vs6 said that without faith it is impossible to please him(God).
Another example of faith was Enoch in Hebrew 11vs5:when Enoch was caught up and taken to heaven so that he would not have a glimpse of death and he was not found because God had taken him,for even before he was taken to heaven he received testimony still on record that he had walked with God and pleased him.
It was still through faith that Abraham in book of Hebrew when he was tested that is as the testing of his faith was still in progress offered up Isaac,and he who had received the promise of God was ready to sacrifice his only son of promise to whom it was said "through Isaac your descendants shall be called ,for he considered it reasonable to believe that God was able to raise Isaac even from among the dead.
In the sense that he was prepared to sacrifice Isaac in obedience to God ,Abraham did receive him back from the dead(that figurative)
Faith in Jesus gives hope and assurance that no matter how bad our suffering on earth is it going to be better when Jesus comes the second time ,it also help us believe their is heaven and hell even if we haven't seen it or gone there
Faith gives us hope that our love ones that have died we would see them and reunite with them someday.
