Therefore since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, we must get rid of every weight and the sin that so easily ensnares us,, and run with endurance the race set out for us (Hebrews 12: 1)
Imagine you are being to court and have some one witness against you? And to make things worse, what they are witnessing against you are true! This is human court, that of legal justice. But have you ever considered another superior and eternal court of justice and righteousness, where you and I will stand one day? And what is humbling is that, there are witnesses too, and scriptures say, they are numerous, like clouds, and they see everything, from inside out. And these witnesses will either testify for us or against us in the Supreme Court of the Universe.
Who are these witnesses and what are they witnessing to now? The Apostle to the Hebrew Christians who raised this issue to exhort them declared to us in the same chapter that they are myriads of angels, numerous departed souls of the early saints, the Blood of Jesus, the Blood of the righteous Abel, the Words of Jesus, the Holy Scriptures and Satan himself (Heb 12: 22 -24, Rev 12: 9 -10). And their testimony, what they are witnessing to now is that the Almighty God has set His unconditional, agape love and loving heart on you and I to save us. He so loved the world to save it. He is bent on saving you and I from our own life and doings which are about to bring us to judgment and condemnation.
So the Scriptures exhort us to lay aside every Weight and every Sin that ensnaring us and stopping us from being saved by God.
Weight is not a sin, but ensnares us from God. For example, watching TV is not a sin, but can ensnare you from God and even bring you into sin. Also we are exhorted to run with focus and determination the Christian faith set before us by Christ, which others have ran successfully and watching us now and witnessing for us that we too can run it.
So as you go through life, know that there are spiritual cameras and radars and satellites and drones all around you. You and I are being watched and there is nothing that we can do about it. Except we let what these captured about us to be for us a good witness and testimony that will bring about a good affirmation and rewards.
May you from today begin to give yourself a good witness as you lay aside the ensnaring weights and sins and focus with determination the Gospel faith, which brings eternal life in Christ. And may the Lord help you and sustain you with grace and power to finish the race successful in Jesus name. Amen
