Working in a Startup or a Large Company - What is a good choice?

As a developer Junior or Senior, as Software Engineer or a Digital Marketer or a UX Designer, despite your title, sometimes when you want to start a New Job, you are thinking is better to work for a Startup or for a Large company, established business.

Considering these two options

Startup: What working in a Startup can offer?
Large Company: For your first job you are wondering is the best option to work on the Large Company directly?

One thing is for sure. Working in a startup is different from working in an establishment software company for various reasons

  1. Startups are built step by step, so no one knows how it will go. The product demands and requirements can change often and also your responsibilities will change more often. So you will not know at first what you will do, meanwhile at established companies, they have a product in sales, and your tasks are specified and you know what you will do.
  2. At startup working there you will learn exiting stuffs every time, while at Large Companies you might end up doing the same tasks for a large period.
  3. Startups have more challenges for your professional growth.

Working at large companies / corporate will get you some benefits

  • Salary might be one of them, but it depends. For the moment lets say it's a plus.
  • You are working for a recognized brand name
  • Better role and mentorship model
  • You are learning how to work with large scale of employes

If you want an exiting job with an undefined role with undefined set of responsibilities since those will change often you should consider working for a startup, but if you want a more defined stabled role you should work for a large company.
