This year the soccerclub of our kids is organizing a international tournament for the fourth time. Is is a so called "U13" tournament which means the teams participating are all under the age of 13.
FC Zutphen (our soccerclub) is a big club with over a 1000 playing members but aren't playing very high in competition. Nevertheless they already manage for 4 years to get some great international teams to Zutphen.
This year they invited:
- Arsenal (England)
- AZ (Dutch)
- Feyenoord (Dutch)
- KRC Genk (Belgium0
- FC Zutphen (Dutch)
- RSC Anderlecht (Belgium)
- Bayer 04 Leverkusen (Germany)
- PSV (Dutch)
- Valencia (Italy)
- Vitesse (Dutch)
This weekend the temperature is high, it's 30 degrees Celcius. Normally a bit to hot to play a game of soccer but it's no option to delay it of course :)
On the other hand it's good for the revenue of the club's bar :).
All the clubs, except Zutphen, are professional soccer clubs with a great youth department. Some of these kids will eventually end up in the first team of their club or will be making a career elsewhere at some big clubs.
It's amazing how to see these kids play the game already, the tactics, the technique... incredible.
This afternoon the finale is played between Anderlecht and PSV. Of course we hope we keep the prize in the Netherlands :) . Zutphen haven't played that well, but there is a big difference between the different clubs like I mentioned. The can leave the field in a proud way.
The club can be proud for such a event, the weather of course cooperated, but the atmosphere was great.
Have a great sunday,
Cheers,
Peter
