Liverpool Drop a Huge Statement against Manchester City

The words that came out of my mouth after watching Liverpool win the Almighty Manchester City by 3 goals to 1 are; “Liverpool are going to win this season’s Uefa Champions League”.

By this time last season, it was Manchester City that smiled last in an encounter against the Reds. Perhaps, had John Stones not cleared a ball almost past the City’s goal line, Liverpool wouldn’t have painfully watched Manchester City lift the league title by just a point difference. It was a lot to take in but this season Liverpool made sure they are not giving Manchester City any chance of supremacy.

As the god of soccer would have it in the yesterday clash between City and Liverpool, a penalty appeal by Manchester City was turned down and Twenty-Two seconds later, Liverpool took the lead through a Fabinho outside of the 18 yard box strike.

Mohammed Salah would go on to make it two and Sadio Mane scoring the third. All goals arising from very impressive play and organization; believe you me, Liverpool are already looking like Premier League Champions.

At the start of the season, I made it clear that the only team able to wrestle the league out of Manchester City’s hands is Liverpool and the Merseyside Red side is doing just that. With just two points lost in the league since that start of the season and the way Liverpool are consistent, I don’t think they would be losing their guard anytime soon and dropping down that first position until the season comes to an end.

Thanks for Reading
