It wasn't really *that* bad before. I was playing on one of the Japanese servers -- Tonberry -- and the ping, with Mudfish connected, was 130... it was good enough to do most things, but you felt slow doing it. Combat in particular was pretty irritating and you really needed to be on the ball to get out of bad. Pretty much the very second you saw it, you had to move immediately, because by the time you move the bad has already finished casting and you're on the brink of getting hurt before even realising it. Also, as a thaumaturge, casting is very hard to time with such a ping. And the platforming in various Golden Saucer events! That's pretty painful too, with your character jumping a few milliseconds *after* you press spacebar. It was a bit difficult, and I'm terrible at platforming at the best of times. She was all dressed up and ready for transfer! The servers don't open for transfer until 4:00pm my time today, so I decided to spend some time with my character in her high-ping world for a little bit while I wait patiently. I'm also writing this post as I wait. It's 7:00am at the moment -- I have ***hours*** to go! 😅 *(I have this Publish Post window open all day and writing, writing... will likely continue throughout the day and post after my transfer is done!)* The Oceanic servers are already online and ready for people to play, but it's the transfers that aren't open just yet, and that's what I'm waiting for. 🙂 To be fair, I haven't gotten very far on this character and could easily start anew, but she has 600,000gil and a $15 cash shop outfit, so, she has no choice but to magically appear on this new realm. xD ![Screenshot (850).png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/kaelci/23wgCx3keHkedTRAnCCiRhuV2DatXAiahfC34SfiJHUPoZXf1i4Yo843SdCPwVDi2Lvci.png) Join me as I explore the Tonberry server for the last time. This server has been super populated and congested for years. It is the most popular Japanese server and that, in part, is due to the influx of Oceanic players who also called it home. When I hop onto the Oceanic servers for the very first time, it will be empty compared to this. There are many of us! 😁 I have a feeling that they're going to be inundated by server transfer requests come 4pm. Good thing I'll be cooking dinner at that time, then eating dinner, and watching some Stargate, so by the time I'm ready to play on good ping tonight my transfer will have plenty of time to be finished. I never really traded much in this game, it didn't seem as though many people used the Marketplace. I did sell a few things, but nothing compared to how I normally trade in other MMOs. To be fair though, in this game I don't feel as though I need to trade. I'm quite happy doing the professions (jobs) just for me and not because I want to make money off of other people. It takes me a while to get used to games again after not playing them for a while, especially when it comes to MMOs, and that was the main reason I chose the thaumaturge to play as. You can do all the classes/jobs if you want to, but I didn't want to get that involved until after the transfers were live. And the thaumaturge is such an easy class! Lightning, fire, fire, fire, shift elements, blizzard, blizzard, shift elements, fire, fire, fire, haha. So it was very easy to pick up again. I decided that, after partaking in a few activities at the Golden Saucer, and roaming around the main cities, I would roam around a few areas and play a little Triple Triad with the various NPCs who have cards that I don't have yet. ![Screenshot (862).png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/kaelci/23vsFeguL3Z7obaLKtfqhu8xi8mDJf4aVgKDKEsRYZj44TqZ4n4Ysa2vZ35WhvxbodsEx.png) Sometimes you can be lucky and get their cards after one win, other times it can take about forty wins before you finally get what you came for. The leader of the Fishing Guild... he was the latter. Some of these NPCs are just spiteful. 😉 When I won her card, it was about 3:20pm... almost 4pm!!!!!!!... and so, it was time to prepare for the transfer! I needed to make sure my retainer wasn't selling anything on the market place, and I re-read the Home World Transfer Service criteria several times to make sure I wasn't forgetting anything, to make sure it would be a smooth process. All was good and ready! So I ran around the cities for a little bit and inwardly farewell'd the crowds. Soon I would be liberated from the masses! But they amuse me when I see them around the world. They're always in little groups and I don't know what it is, but I just stop and gawk at them. By some chance the ability to transfer was made available at exactly 4:00pm, on the dot, I loitered in Mogstation and waited, and waited. While I waited, I hovered around the FFXIV Reddit and investigated which server would be best for me. By the sounds of things, *Sophia* is going to be the RP server, so that's where I shall go! I submitted my request... and waited for the verification to pass... and then it went back under maintenance. 🤣 The faster I get this done, the faster I can start dinner! Unfortunately, it turns out the masses of Aussies trying to transfer at this exact moment has broken the entire Mog Station xD And there was even a thread about it on the Reddit forums. 😅 It is now 4:40pm. So I gave up and decided to try again later. Hungry mouths won't wait. 🤣 Thank you for joining me on my last day in Tonberry! I'm hoping that I'll be able to transfer at some point this evening so I can play lag-free tomorrow. 😁 Looking forward to immersing myself in this until Lost Ark is released in two weeks time! Whee!
