Many atheists and materialists claim human beings are no more than biological machines whose sole purpose is to survive.
But is this true?
"We are survival machines – robot vehicles blindly programmed to preserve the selfish molecules known as genes." - Richard Dawkins
If this were true there would be no such thing as art, music, or love. There would be no need for intimacy or human connection. There would be no laughter or joy; smiles or hugs. None of those things serve any evolutionary purpose whatsoever, yet they give our lives meaning and purpose. They make life worth living.
All living beings are imbued with spirit, and spirit is the animating force of the universe. It is spirit that enables us to truly feel, and connect, with others. It is spirit, not "the selfish molecules known as genes", that defines us - sorry Dawkins.
You are not a biological machine. You are an eternal soul having a temporary experience in a physical body. You are not just a cog in the wheel of life, your experience matters, your life has value, you are much more than your genes.
Remember that.
“The first gulp from the glass of natural sciences will turn you into an atheist, but at the bottom of the glass God is waiting for you.” - Werner Heisenberg
