Spider Love

'Spider Love' occurs in Donne's poem, "Twicknam Garden", when the poet expresses his sorrows and mental torture because of his one - sided passion of love for lucy, Countess of Bedford, who was his patroness. Being inspired by his passion for beloved, the poet has come to know "Twicknam Garden" in order that the beautiful sight and sounds around him might soothe his trouble mind, caused by his frustration in love. But the beauty of spring, as is visible here, fails to console him in his distress. He continues to suffer from deep anguish. His sights destroy him, and he sheds tears in such profusion that he seem to be enveloped in them. He blames only himself for this. If nature fails to give solace to him, the fault lies with him, for he has brought with him 'The spider of love' which transforms even the beautiful and the sweet into something poisonous and bitter.FB_IMG_1522426114611.jpg
