He dado un traspiés y me caído.

No llevo prisa. Sencillamente, voy disfrutando.

The Big Stone of the Apostle.

I leave Caldas de Reis and quickly enter the field. Being early, the sun shines from the side and the lights are warm. At this time there are many pilgrims who also get up early to avoid the hottest hours, at noon.

F02F3ACF-27C4-4060-A5D2-2FF238C9EC31.jpeg

We pass under the highway and enter a dark and cool oak forest in which the sun's rays filter through, forming pools of light on the ground.

8809D6C0-5AED-46E3-AA2D-58F2C49F548D.jpeg

This stage was the one we liked the most in 2018. It was precisely the one that we did raining and we arrived totally drenched. Now the light is completely different and I don't recognize it. It seems totally new to me.

In the forest path, again, there is a nearby stream. I do not see it, but I perceive it because the water sounds.

769CC598-9E76-4067-BB87-06822EE609ED.jpeg

I am letting other pilgrims pass because I prefer to stay alone listening only to my footsteps.

It is difficult to summarize everything that happened at this stage. It was very long, almost 30 km. I have had to select from a multitude of photos to leave you an acceptable amount that summarizes everything.

As the hours go by, the landscape becomes more open and the walk more exposed to the sun. Fortunaly, today too, there is some relief breeze.

06885F36-72DD-4CF6-B22C-2B67B22075EB.jpeg

I have to be more attentive. I have stumbled and fell. Fortunately nothing has happened to me but I could have easily broken something.

Irremediably, after each descent comes an ascent. What you rest on the descent, supposes an effort on the next slope.

1E4AE7A0-8093-49A0-A1DB-4218EE06A026.jpeg

Thus, between ups and downs along a road, I enter a closed oak forest, where the trees are completely arched, literally making a tunnel. You hear, again, a nearby stream down there.

The forest is also made up of chestnut and beech trees that are completely arched over the path, like a roof. Also, I recognize laurels, eucalyptus, pine ...

There are some very beautiful corners, with many mosses and ferns. I enjoy the journey alone, without anyone to distract me and listening only to the sound of my footsteps.

C515CE18-1326-44C9-9369-DEB78CEF117E.jpeg

I'm not in a hurry. I am simply enjoying myself. I feel very lucky to be here and the life that I have and have led. With its oscillations, sometimes very intense, I cannot complain.

In Pontecesures, a curious and endearing man invites me to visit his “Obradoiro”. He is a picturesque character and he tells me a lot about history and the Camino, its meaning, its symbols and that you have to learn to look.

407B5784-BDD0-4148-B49C-4CA47AE3DE33.jpeg

He explains to me that, in this place, 3500 years ago he had a source, the same as there is now. As there was water, a Celtic and later Roman fort was signed. Then the church, the cemetery, etc.

He told me about the Holy Fountain in the lower part of A Esclavitude, creating curiosity and in the end causing me to walk 6 km more after reaching Padrón.

As he indicated, I arrived at the
Capella de San Julián, which is a construction from the 12th century and I walk through its cemetery. In ancient times, people were buried very close to churches to be the first, on the day of resurrection, to enter the kingdom of heaven.

Between Pontecesures and Padrón, the Camino goes straight along the river Sar and is fast.

Inside the church I find the "stone" to which they tied the boat, the disciples of the one brought the tomb of the apostle Santiago.

This inscribed stone block is located under the altar. From there derives the name of the town where I am, which is called Padrón.

Close to Padrón is Iría Flavia, which was one of the two ports in Galicia. It is located at the end of the Arousa estuary. That is the reason why the apostle's disciples docked the boat here.

I decide to extend the stage to see the church of Iría Flavia, but I find it closed. It is only open in the morning when pilgrims pass by.

Already put, I lengthen the stage even more to reach Esclavitude and its Holy Fountain. The church is closed, not the fountain.

In total, it has been 10 hours of walking, 29.4 kilometers and I am exhausted ...

For the photography I use my iPhone X. For edition I use the Snapseed application and for the digital signature the Watermark app.

Everything I did on my mobile phone, I did not use the computer at all.

For the drawings, I use the Sketches program and paint them on the tablet.
