Muchos años atrás, cuando era un desarrollador de sistemas de computación por cuenta propia o “freelancer” como se dice ahora, tenía varios clientes, algunos importantes que me posibilitaban buenos ingresos y cierta libertad para practicar mis deportes favoritos, el golf y la pesca.
Entre aquellos que requerían mis servicios había una petrolera nacional que por entonces se llamaba San Jorge. Para la petrolera desarrollé un sistema que les permitía administrar la perforación y la terminación de los pozos petroleros, una actividad totalmente desconocida para mí en aquellas épocas pero que pude llevar a cabo gracias a que me pusieron para colaborar y asesorarme un ingenio de su plantilla absolutamente bien dispuesto y con grandes conocimientos de la tarea, aunque es justo decir también, de computadoras no sabía ni como se prendían. Conformamos un buen equipo y el sistema salió adelante, tanto que venció la resistencia de los hombres de campo acostumbrados a trabajar con planillas que llenaban a mano y una calculadora científica para hacer las cuentas.
Cuando hubo que implementar mi creación tuve que viajar seguido a la provincia de Neuquén porque allí tenían su principal yacimiento y base de operaciones. Recuerdo mis primeros viajes en el pequeño avión biturbo hélice que tomaba en el aeropuerto de Neuquén luego de viajar desde Buenos Aires en un avión de línea, generalmente la muy simpática “chanchita” como le decían a los Boeing 737/200 por su silueta corta y regordeta. El vuelo en el avión pequeño pasaba por arriba del lago Mari Menuco y del Embalse Los Barreales ubicados al norte de la ciudad capital de la provincia de Neuquén, ¡cómo se movía ese pequeño avión!, no se si era por el cambio de densidad del aire debida a los dos grandes lagos o porque por allí entraban sin reparo los vientos de la cordillera, la cosa era que la turbulencia, los barquinazos y la pérdida de sustentación por los pozos de aire me hacían estremecer, me sentía ridículo porque el resto del pasaje que en general estaba compuesto por trabajadores del yacimiento, no acusaban ningún temor, por el contrario, dormían plácidamente mientras yo no encontraba posición ni asidero para agarrarme.
Y me acordé de todo esto porque justamente hoy leí que por una gran bajante que hay en el embalse Los Barriales, científicos argentinos descubrieron los restos de un dinosaurio gigante que vivió en el período Cretácico, unos 90 millones de años atrás.
Entonces relacioné todo, el sistema, la compañía petrolera y los dinosaurios, inmediatamente recordé algo que aprendí de los expertos de aquellos años. Como muchos otros, yo creía que el combustible fósil o sea el petróleo provenía de los dinosaurios, sin embargo, me explicaron que no, al menos no todo ya que se produce por la acumulación de materia orgánica, que se junta en sedimentos que van perdiendo el oxígeno, y la presión que ejercen las capas, el aumento de temperatura y otros factores, acaban produciendo petróleo que ahora usamos, millones de años después.
Y así es como todo tiene que ver con todo y a propósito de los restos del dinosaurio encontrado, según los científicos, se afirma que su altura superaba los 30 metros, tamaño considerable, como para ser parte rutilante del plantel de dinos de la zaga de Parque Jurásico.

When my creation had to be implemented, I had to travel frequently to the province of Neuquén because there they had their main deposit and base of operations. I remember my first trips in the small Biturbo propeller plane that I took at the Neuquén airport after traveling from Buenos Aires in a commercial plane, generally the very nice “chanchita” as they called the Boeing 737/200 for its short and plump. The flight in the small plane passed over Lake Mari Menuco and the Los Barreales Reservoir located north of the capital city of the province of Neuquén, how that small plane was moving! I don't know if it was due to the change in density of the air due to the two great lakes or because the winds of the mountain range entered without hesitation, the thing was that the turbulence, the bumps, and the loss of support by the air wells made me shudder, I felt ridiculous because the rest of the A passage that was generally made up of workers from the site, they did not show any fear, on the contrary, they slept peacefully while I could not find a position or a handhold to hold onto me.
And I remembered all this because just today I read that through a large downspout in the Los Barriales reservoir, Argentine scientists discovered the remains of a giant dinosaur that lived in the Cretaceous period, some 90 million years ago.
Then I related everything, the system, the oil company, and the dinosaurs, immediately I remembered something that I learned from the experts of those years. Like many others, I believed that fossil fuel or oil came from dinosaurs, however, they explained to me that no, at least not everything since it is produced by the accumulation of organic matter, which gathers in sediments that are losing oxygen, and the pressure exerted by the layers, the increase in temperature and other factors, end up producing oil that we now use, millions of years later.
And this is how everything has to do with everything and with regard to the remains of the dinosaur found, according to scientists, it is stated that its height exceeded 30 meters, considerable size, as to be a shining part of the group of dinos behind Parque Jurassic.
