Sony's Return to VR

A new generation of gaming has seen a rocky start across the board. A lingering pandemic has made things ever more difficult. Pairing this with scalping behaviour has also put some off from jumping in for now but with 2021 progressing, both the PS5 and Xbox are rolling out their plans to attract attention.

A few months back I speculated over the PS5 and Sony's inevitable return to VR gaming. And here we are today with news of a new PSVR made for the next generation of gaming.

Sony published a statement on its blog outlining (broadly) about its upcoming PlayStation VR for the next generation. It promises to deliver a superior experience and greater levels of interactivity. The latter has me interested. Looking at current offers on PC, setups from HTC, Valve and Oculus have only improved and left the PSVR as a basic offering. For a competitive edge, Sony will have to offer either a superior experience or perhaps a combination of unique features and value delivery.

I'm interested to see how a dualsense VR controller mixes into the set too. Sony have great opportunity to leverage their IP's and attract attention once more to VR. Resident Evil 7 is still one of my favourites. I'll patiently be awaiting an update later this year.
