The Great British Coin Hunt Quintessentially British A to Z

Setting our watches to Greenwich Mean Time, There’s so much more to discover than the Meridian Line.
The Royal Observatory Greenwich is famous world-wide as the home of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
It was in 1876 that a single time zone setting the baseline for the rest of the world was first proposed. Engineer and inventor, Sandford Fleming, first made the call for a global 24-hour clock and although he wasn’t immediately successful he continued to push his concept and eventually the theory of a universal day, beginning at Greenwich midnight, was agreed upon by the International Meridian Conference.
Most countries had adopted the hourly time zones by the 1930’s. Many differed within regions because of geography, distance and politics, which remains the case today, with many countries carrying different time zones between states.

Once again we find ourselves loitering at the bottom end of the Scarcity Index chart. While the design is simple, I do actually rather like it's simplicity.

Known the world over as GMT, the world runs on it! You may not even have noticed it, but a lot of the "auto-voting" services use it as a start and end time for their cycles. When trying to set out a global blogging platform xits always best to stick to a global constant, and have everything timed directly from it.

With 220,000 coins minted, the 2018 version, falls in line with the other 2018 coins of the set. While still a relatively low mintage for a stand alone coin, as part of a 26 coin set, collectors arent too fussed.

The 2019 version, however has a much lower mintage of just 84,000 coins. This sees its collectors value increase, and is reflected in the addition price you'd need to pay to get hold of one.
