Coinage of Maria Theresa

I came back from vacation yesterday. One of my first joys was viewing my coins. I want to share that pleasure with you.

I have attempted to compile a complete series of her mints. From a tolar to a heller. Mainly from Hungarian coins. If I don't have Hungarian ones, I will use ones from other countries.

This set of coins was valid between 1754 and 1866:
Tolar 28,06 g, 833/1000 ... 120 kreutzer
1/2 Tolar (gulden) 14,03 g, 833/1000 ... 60 kreutzer
1/4 Tolar 7,01 g, 833/1000 ... 30 kreutzer
20 kreuter 6,68 g, 583/1000
17 kreutzer 6,12 g, 542/1000
15 kreutzer 6,40 g, 563/1000
10 kreutzer 3,89 g, 500/1000
7 kreutzer 3,24 g, 420/1000
5 kreutzer 2,60 g, 375/1000
3 kreutzer (grosus) 1,70 g, 344/1000

Yes. It is sad. I'm missing the sevenkreutzer coin...

Maria Theresa was the first Habsburg monarch to use copper for coinage.

Poltura 1 and 1/2 of kreutzer
1 kreutzer
1 greschl 3/4 of kreutzer
1 denarius 3/5 of kreutzer
1/2 kreutzer
1 pfennig 1/4 of kreutzer
1 heller 1/8 of kreutzer

Yes. I have all of them!

The Austrian currency 1754 - 1866 was common to the Habsburg states and Bavaria. Tomorrow I will look at my Bavarian Tolars. I definitely have some.
