Hi Stackers,
During my holiday I read in a German Newspaper a bout a fellow country man who was sentenced 2,5 years to jail in Germany for trying to steal a roman gold treasure.
The modern pirate tried to get in to the German Landesmuseum in October 2019 trying to steal a gold treasure found in Trier. The treasure contained gold coins of the ROman empire.

The guy and two helpers got into the building, smashed a door but could not smash the panzered glass whcih triggered the alarm. They were caught later on - in 2020 - due to DNA marks on a bag left behind!
Trier was a northern city of the roman empire and it sits beautifully along the river Moezel knwon for a little sweet Moezel wine (like Riesling) and the typical green glasses to drink it. It is a jewel in the further agricultural urrouundings. Suddenly you see a surviving Roman city port in the middle of trier. A huge one that is !

But back to the treasure:
It weighs 18,5 kilo worth 600000 Euro! Not bad.
This is how it was found:
The gold coins were struck of Nero in the years 63/64 AD, the youngest under Septimius Severus years 193 and 196. So almost 2000 years old and in great condition
When you are ever n Trier visit the LAndesmuseum but keep your hands in your pocket please!
