Sail With Me On The Bras D'Or Lakes - Part 1

It's a rainy day here on Cape Breton Island, so what better time to sit down with a coffee and share some of the photos from the last few days of sailing.

Sailing Bras D'Or - Part 1

The first day started out a little overcast and with almost no wind. There was a little bit, though, and it was blowing down the lake so we were able to get the spinnaker up and flying as soon as we left the mooring. We ended up keeping it up all day and sailed about 25 km down the lake.

Me and @landonator enjoying the relaxing sail with the colorful spinnaker.

We found this sheltered cove to stop for supper. It worked out really well. Instead of having to pull in and anchor, there was a mooring ball right in the middle of the cove so it was way easier to just hook onto that and enjoy our meal.

Can you see the eagle in the tree?

Things got a little faster on the way back. The wind had picked up, but it would have taken a few hours to get back and it was getting late. So, we turned on the motor and turned up the speed. @landonator really likes this from the front of the boat.

We got back to our mooring, packed everything up, and headed in on the dinghy just in time for the sunset.

We made it back to the cottage just before the sun completely set and I was able to snap this photo before it all disappeared for the night.

The perfect end to a great day.
