My First Rising Star CRAFTING Experience

Mint your own instrument #NFTs in just a few short missions! Have you put on your "crafting" cape yet? You really should. You really, really should.

Or I should start by asking if you've even discovered Rising Star yet? #Hive meets independent music, they fall head-over-heels and their love child-- Starbits-- is unleashed upon this world to rise in the ranks of the global rock gods to eventually rule supreme over all creation...

That's Rising Star in a nutshell.

If you're not already on the list, you must be getting excited after that description. It's okay... take a quick breather (and change your pants) then come back and CLICK HERE to get started on your musical journey.

It’s funny… I actually told myself that I wouldn’t be getting into this crafting stuff at all. I’ve been playing #RisingStar since the early days-- plugging away, focused on gathering Starbits and staying near the top of the leaderboard-- and it just didn’t seem prudent that I spend my tokens trying to get a few more unique cards (when I already had the vast majority of them).

And when there was a slight miscalculation in the beginning of this update, which caused a mini-wave of guitars to be crafted and put up for sale, I was able to buy four of them at pretty good prices… so this only helped me self-justify my plan to avoid doing any crafting.

I’ve been in ninth place on the leaderboard for a while now, although I did slip into tenth for a day not long ago… but I wasn’t understanding the real value of this “crafting” concept and there wasn’t much incentive to change that.

My usual modus operandi here in the RISING STAR universe is to buy an occasional 12 or 24-pack when new monthly cards are unveiled, and monitor the market for affordable unique additions and personal favourites. This has kept me rooted in the Top 10 without much effort-- based on the mathematical equation that prioritizes unique cards above any other metric.

And I should admit that being both a Level 210 player and a #Starbits Millionaire makes hoarding cheddar a pretty easy task, so I just couldn’t see why instrument crafting made sense for me… until I decided to give it a shot.

Newbie and Master!

That’s me… after a few hours dedicated to these newfangled crafting missions-- and maybe about 10k Starbits spent-- I checked my minting capabilities and quickly realized what all the fuss is about.

I minted the first RSTAR D3113 drum set ever!

I had a few more common options available for minting before this one appeared, but I wanted to see what was possible with a modest effort... and, wow, I sure am glad I pressed on for a few more missions.

To be honest, part of my hesitation to try crafting was my own expectation that it would be a long, difficult process-- much like the seasonal missions that come up empty more often than not. I always grind it out with these special missions, as they don’t require me to spend anything, but I guess I wasn’t willing to take that risk over a longer term (for 1000 Starbits a pop).

But I couldn't have been more wrong!

It really isn’t difficult at all, especially if you just want to mint a few of the more common drum sets and guitars… a handful of missions would likely do the trick! And it really is such a clever way of redistributing Starbits while keeping players engaged… I’m officially impressed!

So I don’t know if you’ve been dismissing this whole instrument crafting phenomenon much the way I was, maybe even for similar reasons. But stop it, for the love of God... just stop!

Stop Avoiding Instrument Crafting on Rising Star.png

I’m half-kidding. You do you (as long as that means being a hopelessly obsessed RISING STAR user) and don’t let anyone push you around. But, you know, just consider this nothing more than a friendly kick in the ass nudge if you’re feeling particularly vulnerable motivated.

You know what I’m saying… and you’re a jar of awesome-sauce anyway if you’ve followed my bizarre, little bouncing ball this far down the page! Thanks so much for that, and for helping make @risingstargame amazing.

Now go make some music history! Just don’t forget to branch out and try all the different elements of the game. You won't regret it. And let me know in the comments if you have any thoughts or questions. Peace out for now!
