I LIKE TO WATCH #17 - Making Waves: The Art of Cinematic Sound

Just finished watching a very entertaining and informative documentary. Making Waves: The Art of Cinematic Sound, we get an insiders look at how sound is used to enliven some of our favorite motion pictures. From the advent of the first "talkies" all the way up to the digitized magic involved in some of today's biggest blockbusters. I learned so much about the importance of sound in movies, as well as some of the surprisingly low-tech ways some of the most well-known pieces are created.

After watching this doc, you'll never look at "Star Wars" in the same way again!

The surprising thing was to see just how innovative some of these creators were. The task of coming up with fresh new approaches to convey the perfect emotions onscreen at the right moment. Watching a clip without the effect and then experiencing it afterwards was really eye-opening. The beauty of the cinema, is the ability to be immersed in another world, allowing each of us to enjoy the wonderful feeling of pure escapism.

This is one of those films that's perfect for those of us cooped up due to the pandemic. After everything's all said and done, you really begin to see just how much of an art form this really is. It's a brisk 94 minutes that goes by before you know it, leaving you wanting for more. Currently on Amazon Prime, Making Waves is highly reccommended!

Thank You So Much!
