Review: The Alchemist

It didn't look like any adventure story that I haven't read. If it is an adventure story than it must be worse than most such stories our there. I am trying to understand what should I learn from this book. There are many events in the book which teach us something but when we try to apply them in real lives, we realise that life is not that simple and one-dimensional. There are many factors to think before we set out following our hearts only.

The most boring part of the story is when boy meets crystal merchant and spends time with him. It seemed that author has slowed his pace here and is himself trying to figure out purpose of this part in story. This portion of the book encouraged me to leave the book here and pick up another one.

The time spent in the oasis with Fatima wasn't given much space in the novel. It would have been better if there were at least few more pages on that love story. Readers must have enjoyed the blossoming of love between the two. Same was the case with Shepherd's daughter. It seemed that these two characters aren't given much importance however reader somehow gets forced to want to know more about them.

I would like to emphasis one more point: I read this book second time. This time the book lost its charm. This is not a book that we should read again and again and enjoy every time.
