Multiple Stores Forced to Close Over Ongoing Retail Crime Issues

When stores are having to close because of rising retail crime issues this signals a failure in security services in the market. Who is supposed to be protecting and enforcing the rules that offer security to these stores? There are several Walgreens locations that have had to reportedly close because of a rise in organized retail crime. There are videos of people stealing from different retail stores and nothing seems to be done about it, certainly not enough to deter those who are engaging in the acts.

It isn't just Walgreens stores that are closing either, a Target location is also closing allegedly over rising retail crime too. Who might be next? Some stores have already done what they can to try and improve on their security and decrease chances of this happening but it is still a problem and has meant now that several stores have had to be closed.

Retail theft means tens of billions in annual losses in just the United States

Those stores closing down only means those in the community are going to have fewer options for where they can go. And for some communities they don't have an abundance of choices.

Along with that rise in organized retail theft the theft of catalytic converters has still been a big issue around the country and countless individuals have been victimized along the way through the pandemic as this became a growing issue. For those stores that are having to close because of the rise in retail theft, like Walgreens, they have placed blame on organized shoplifting rings.

With those stores closing down not only does it mean people in those communities have fewer options but it also means those employees who worked at that store are going to be losing their jobs or be inconvenienced by being moved to another location that might be much further away from where they reside. With those stores closed down it also leaves those in the area who had been targeted the store left to look around at alterative options, the solution to the issue cannot be to ignore the problem and close up shop, that won't make it go away, more needs to be done to address the crime issue in these communities.
