Qurator's Photo Quest | Architectural ~ Saloma Link

One day I passed by this bridge while driving on a highway. What is that? Is that a bridge? Wow so pretty! And how in the world do I get there? So I Google without knowing what to search for. I Google few keywords, 'pretty bridge', 'new bridge in Kuala Lumpur', 'newly constructed bridge in Kuala Lumpur'. And all these keywords cannot hit this finding. I even cannot remember how did I pass by that amazing bridge.

I am a fan of architecture and so this bridge remains in my mind and I kept thinking about it. Like I was thinking 'How can I am living in the middle of Kuala Lumpur and I didn't even know about this new bridge!'. I am like cannot believe how I felt I am so left behind about big news. And then one day, after a few weeks, I was driving on a highway and yes yes I saw that beautiful bridge. So I drive slower because I just need to know which building is the nearest to that bridge and so I got it, it was very near to the Public Bank Tower, yay! got it finally.

When I reached home, I use this Google keyword, 'Bridge near Public Bank' and wow it returns the result for this bridge that is called 'Saloma Link'. And coincidentally Qurator is organizing a new challenge on 'Photo Quest on Architectural', so 'dang' this is the best topic to suit this week's challenge. And here is a photo of the Saloma Link, hope you will like it!

About Saloma Link

Saloma Link is a 69 meters combined pedestrian and bicyclist bridge across the Klang River in Kuala Lumpur. It joins the districts of Kampung Baru and Kuala Lumpur City Centre. The name 'Saloma' is derived from the legendary singer Saloma (Wife of the late Tan Sri P Ramlee, a Malaysian legendary artist). Saloma was buried in the nearby Cemetery which you will need to pass by when you are walking to the bridge from Public Bank side. Whereas the bridge’s architecture is inspired by the Sirih Junjung arrangements (betel nut leaves arrangement). Malay uses Sirih Junjung as a symbolic gift exchange between the bride and the groom's family.

How to get there?

To reach here just need to key in 'Pintasan Saloma' in Waze and you will reach the Public Bank Tower opposite the Petronas Twin Towers. There is an open parking space directly behind the Public Bank Tower that charges RM6 per entry. The bridge entrance is free.
