Sparkling Prosecco Mini Cupcakes

Afternoon Cake-aholics and Steemers!

Yesterday I wrote about Chocolate Ganache Cupcakes, I have for you today Sparkling Prosecco Mini Cupcakes. I do like my Prosecco, so these really sang to me. Let’s try these babies!

Sparkling Prosecco Mini Cupcakes

Mini cupcakes with a layer of Prosecco sauce on a sponge base. Topped with Prosecco flavoured buttercream and gold hundreds and thousands.

Ah, look at these. They are so cute and so tiny. I go to lift one up and the first thing I notice is how sticky the wrapper is. I take another two out and they are very sticky too. Must be the Prosecco sauce. I go to peel the wrapper off and I’m finding I have to constantly lick my fingers. Eventually when I do unwrap one of the mini cupcakes I see how very moist the sponge is. It’s almost soaked! I bite into the cupcake and I do get a hint of Prosecco flavour, although I find the whole cake has a perfumery flavour. I don’t like anything that’s flowery or perfumery. The buttercream swirl has a good texture, it’t not too firm and not too soft. In the words of Goldilocks ’Just right!’ The gold hundreds and thousands look pink. They do add a crunch to the cake which I think is needed because everything else is very moist and soft.

As I mentioned in my previous cupcake post, I can eat a lot of cake. This one was’t rich, the flavours didn’t appeal to me in the way I thought they would. They are 147 calories too! 10 calories more than the Chocolate Ganache ones. I don’t get the sensation of sparkling either. These are meant to be zingy, but there was no zing at all. Quite disappointing really. Nevertheless, if this was the only cake in my house, I would eat it!
