This is how I felt (above )thinking about setting up my very first SPK NETWORK NODE!
The SPKNETWORK CLAIM NODE really wasn't as hard to set up as the thumbnail (above) suggests, all it took was a little organization, a hive account, a web domain, an unrelated key pair, some time & money (HIVE for the Privex Server), a little luck, and some persistance, if you have all this then I'm sure you too will be able to set up a Claim Chain Node for yourself.
Here's the checklist below:
- A domain name, I registered a new one... helios.surf ✅
- 100 HP - I also set up a new hive account and delegated 100 HIVE POWER (@helios.surf) ✅
- Your hive active Key - comes with any HIVE account, I used (@helios.surf) ✅
- Additional Keys - A generic active key pairing, not linked or attached to the hive blockchain, can be easily created with HiveTasks.com.
Setting up the domain and DNS:
I got my domain on namecheap. You need to set up a subdomain to point to the api webserver that you will create. I created an A record spk, by clicking on the advanced DNS tab in namecheap & set the value as the IPv4 Address I received from the privex receipt after creating the virtual server.

Special thanks to @nonsowrites for creating the post to compliment @disregardfiat's tutorial, & video tutorial, which saved me a lot of time by clearing up some of the simple things that disregardfiat may have left out. Without the simple post about a post explanation by nonsowrites, I may not have even attempted to set this up.
Once you have everything set up, it's easy to verify the status of your node by going to:

If your node is down, simply log back into your server, change directories into the honeycomb-spkcc, and re-launch the node.
The good news is that @sagarkothari88 is working on a mobile app notifier for monitoring, it's almost complete, check out his video about it here:
Maintenance
If you need to update any settings, remember to shut down the node (sudo docker compose down) & restart nginx server and rebuild the docker image after you make any changes before re-launching. One final note, I did have a minor buffer error going on, it failed to sufficiently increase receive buffer size ...., so i permanently increased the Buffer size to 2.5 MB with the line below.
sudo sysctl -w net.core.rmem_max=2500000

I still have a lot of questions about maintaining the server, adding a token, and i'm especially wondering about the APR of the dex rewards. Since setting up this node doesn't come without a cost, my hope is that the dex rewards will at least cover the breakeven cost of the domain and the Privex server.
I staked 10,000 LARYNX into my SPK helios.surf account, so I can track the rewards.
Overall it was a fun afternoon setting this little server up. My post is not a how to, if you want to set it up I suggest to follow the posts linked in this document, you should be able to come to the same conclusions as me. I'll give this some time, and report back here on my findings of the APR and profitability, so be sure to follow me if you want to find out about that. I really like what SPK is doing on their testsite, this "Metaverse" will be so cool once it gets filled out! Imagine those circles could be different entrances to token communities, this could be a whole new way to browse the through the HIVE!
04/04/22 UPDATE:
I'm happy to report that I received my first DEX reward 6.75 LARYNX on the initial 10,000 LARYNX Locked!
I'm happy with this rate of return, especially at this early stage in this project. Since the APR, and price of LARYNX are both bound to go up as more and more SPK services are launched, there will be even more fees to share in the future, so it's a no brainer for me to lock up some more!
