"A taxi driver went on a rampage near Penn Station after being ticketed for picking up a fare while his vehicle was more than a foot from the curb, newly revealed records show..."

In my opinion, the po-po ranks should be thinned out. Did the cop whip out some measuring tape to determine the gap was "more than 12 inches"? (That's what she said.) But seriously, was anyone hurt by the cab's distance from the curb? The system is about revenue collection, of course, and not about public safety. The principled viewpoint is as follows: the cop initiated an act of aggression (e.g., ticket, i.e., theft) which then spiraled into an unsafe situation as a hard-working man was unnecessarily provoked.
