Hey folks! Does anyone remember The Museum of Postcard Art??? I still have that thing going on! (Luckily, it’s non-perishable, so it doesn’t spoil if I don’t touch it for months at a time.) The photo above shows the STACK of postcards that I still need to scan! (It’s about three inches high!)
Below, you’ll find scans of some of the new cards that Mariah and I have received in the mail from friends of ours, and also a bunch of stuff that we’ve picked up during our travels to various shops in small towns and beaches. Several of the cards below are C.B. radio contact cards (which Mariah and I found in an antique shop in Lincoln City, Oregon!) I love these hand-drawn then printed cards, which were used by C.B. broadcasters to track who had heard them over the air! What a great glimpse at a subculture that reached its zenith several decades ago!
Art, contact, marking a specific place or occurrence… Postcards are useful as well as interesting to look at! A cool, PHYSICAL piece, cheap enough and portable enough that ANYONE can collect them and start their own Museum of Postcard Art! Now let’s look at some cards…
