When I got deeper into the world of anime, every time I read a comment about being an otome anime, I was curious to know what they were referring to and, basically, they are visual novels aimed mainly at the female audience, where the main character is the protagonist and with her, several extremely attractive guys with personalities that differ from each other. It is like a dating simulation and everything is determined by some questions, where the destiny of the route depends on the answer given.
Generally, these styles of anime tend to have an open ending. I have seen several anime that have this kind of plot and this time I want to talk about two of them: Code: Realize and Hiiro no Kakera, which are not like the best, mostly in the plot and the development of some of the characters, but I really like the aesthetics of them, which is mostly what attracts me to an animation, not at all times, but I am weak to a beautiful animation 😅, although I have stopped watching some, even being beautiful but is that the story does not end up catching me.
Synopsis
Let's start with Code: Realize, an anime that introduces us to a mansion where there is a young maiden named Cardia, the heroine of this story, leading a lonely and confined life, because her body contains a poison, which does not allow her to have contact with others, as she would die at the hands of this. She is taken by force by the Royal Guards, who have the order to capture her, however, she is rescued by Arsene Lupin and from here, Cardia's life begins to change little by little, meeting different boys who will help her in her journey to find her father, who had been missing for years and had separated her from the world.
However, many secrets will be revealed as Cardia enters the outside world more and more and, above all, her identity, which she did not know because she suffered from amnesia.
Hiiro no Kakera has as its heroine Tamaki Kasuga, who has the duty of fulfilling the role of Princess Tamayori, in charge of sealing Onikirimaru, a katana that can destroy everything. However, she only learns of this fact when she goes to the village where her grandmother lives, but she will not be alone in this task, because some young boys are in charge of helping and protecting her so that she can fulfill her duty. Although it will not be easy, because many want to see the seal broken and take control of it.
Personal opinion
In particular, I like the heroine Cardia more than Tamaki, because, despite being rescued at the beginning, there is a clear evolution of the character, she gradually learns certain skills, taught by the boys, to be able to defend herself and not be a burden on the group. On the other hand, with Tamaki, I feel that there is not much progress, I feel her stagnant and in itself, the story in many episodes becomes repetitive and there is no anchor point that directs you.
In Code: realize the whole plot is leading you to its clear and concise ending, there are not many ramifications that end up losing you in what the story is about and how far you want to go. Of course, Hiiro no Kakera is not bad, but it does have its flaws, even so, it is a story that, if you like anime of this style, you can't miss.
Let's talk about aesthetics....
The style of Hiiro no Kakera caught my attention because it reminded me of Hakuouki, while with Code: realize, I don't know, I feel comfortable with the character design in that way, distinctive features between each one that reveals the personality of each one, the detailed clothing, among other elements that appeal to me.
Now about being anime based on otome games....
Because there is often the risk of an open ending and, although there is a certain male character who is the main character of the story, with whom the heroine is destined, sometimes this does not happen. With respect to these two anime, we can appreciate who is the main character of the story. Of course, Hiiro no Kakera does have a more open ending, rather there is no conclusion in the anime and even its manga I did not find it, so one is left with the desire of what happens next.
Adding that, in these anime you end up getting attached to almost all the male characters.

Cuando me adentré más a fondo al mundo de los animes, cada vez que leía un comentario de ser un anime otome, me entraba la curiosidad de saber a lo que se referían y, básicamente, son novelas visuales dirigidas principal al público femenino, donde se tiene a la protagonista y con ella, varios chicos sumamente atractivos y de personalidades que difieren una de otra. Es como una simulación de citas y todo se determina mediante unas preguntas, en donde el destino de la ruta depende de la respuesta que se dé.
Por lo general, estos estilos de animes, tienden a tener un final abierto. He visto varios animes que tienen este tipo de trama y en esta ocasión quiero hablar sobre dos de ellos: Code: Realize y Hiiro no Kakera, de los cuales no son como los mejores, más que todo en la trama y en el desarrollo de algunos de los personajes, pero me gusta mucho la estética de los mismos, que mayormente esto es lo que me atrae de una animación, no en todo momento, pero soy débil ante a una animación bonita 😅, aunque si he dejado algunos de ver, aun siendo bonitos pero es que, la historia no me termina atrapando.
Sinopsis
Comencemos con Code: Realize, anime que nos introduce a una mansión donde se encuentra una joven doncella de nombre Cardia, la heroína de esta historia, portando una vida solitaria y confinada, pues su cuerpo contiene un veneno, el cual no le permite tener contacto con otros, ya que moriría a manos de este. Ella, es llevada a la fuerza por los Guardias reales, quienes tienen la orden de capturarla, sin embargo, es rescatada por Arsene Lupin y partir de aquí, la vida de Cardia comienza a cambiar poco a poco, conociendo a diferentes chicos que la ayudaran en su viaje de encontrar a su padre, mismos que llevaba años desaparecido y la había apartado del mundo.
No obstante, muchos secretos serán revelados en el momento en que Cardia entre al mundo exterior cada vez más y, sobre todo, la identidad de ella, misma que desconocía, porque sufría de amnesia.
Hiiro no Kakera tiene como a heroína a Tamaki Kasuga, quien tiene el deber de cumplir el papel de la Princesa Tamayori, encargada de sellar a Onikirimaru, una katana que puede destruir todo. No obstante, solo se entera de este hecho al momento de ir al pueblo donde vive su abuela, pero no estará sola en esta tarea, pues unos jóvenes chicos son los encargados de ayudarla y protegerla para que pueda cumplir su deber. Aunque no será fácil, porque muchos quieren ver roto dicho sello y tomar control del mismo.
Opinión personal
En lo particular, me gusta más la heroína Cardia que Tamaki, ya que, a pesar de ser rescatada en un inicio, se ve una clara evolución del personaje, poco a poco va aprendiendo ciertas habilidades, enseñadas por los chicos, para poder defenderse y no ser una carga en el grupo. En cambio, con Tamaki, siento que no hay mucho progreso, la siento estancada y de por sí, la historia en muchos episodios se vuelve como repetitiva y no hay punto de anclaje que te direcciona.
En Code: realize toda la trama te va dirigiendo a su final claro y conciso, no hay muchas ramificaciones que te terminen perdiendo en lo que se trata la historia y hasta donde quieres llegar. Claro, no es mala Hiiro no Kakera, pero si tiene sus fallos, aun así, es una historia que, si te gusta los animes de este estilo, no te puedes perder.
Hablemos de la estética….
Cada una tiene su toque y animación que de algún modo te atrae, el estilo de Hiiro no Kakera me llamo la atención porque me recordó al de Hakuouki, mientras con el de Code: realize, no sé, me siento a gusto con el diseño de personajes de esa manera, rasgos distintivos entre cada uno que revela la personalidad de cada quien, la vestimenta detallada, entre otros elementos que me atraen.
Ahora sobre ser animes basados en juegos otomes…
Pues se corre muchas veces el riesgo de su final abierto y, aunque haya un determinado personaje masculino que sea el principal de la historia, con quien la heroína este destinada, en ocasiones no se da eso. Con respecto a estos dos animes si logramos apreciar quien es el protagonista de la historia. Claro está, Hiiro no Kakera si tiene un final más abierto, más bien no hay una conclusión en el anime e incluso su manga no lo encontré, así que si queda uno con las ganas de que ocurre después.
Agregando que, en estos animes te terminas encariñando con casi todos los personajes masculinos.
En fin, les dejo las fichas técnicas respectivas de cada uno y esta fue mi opinión al respecto de estos animes otomes.
