Welcome 🍄
As the final posting in this series, I want to thank everyone who has voted, viewed, commented, and benefitted from this series, and I hope to do more like it if the community does truly enjoy. Thank you to all and I sincerely hope everyone is doing well both physically, and mentally.
In awe of a new four weeks of blogging, I have adjusted the formatting slightly of these posts to make them easier on the eye.
If you are new, welcome. You can begin the wonderful journey along mushroom research, growth, and use, here: @trezzahn/psychoactive-research
Myself (https://hivebuzz.me/@trezzahn) , well, I blog daily (https://actifit.io/trezzahn , with my photography reports here, https://actifit.io/activity/trezzahn#), as well as post and stay active on both this forum, and another, #HypnoChain.
I aim to help others stay motivated. To better their mental, and physical health, through means of individualistic actions seperate from that of societal norm and based entirely on personal desire for their life of true happiness.
So, with nothing left to say, we shall begin this weeks writing on...
Harvest, Flush, and Moving Forward
Harvest:
When developed mycelium form pins, grow, and eventually develop colour, they should be watched with a close eye.
Upon development of a white veil surrounding the cap, under the gills, as seen above and below, attached to the stem, the mushroom should be watched, and when any tearing is identified, harvested immediately.
- The goal is to harvest at the most opportune point, right when the veil of the cap bursts as that is when the most potency stays available.
Harvesting can be done by sterile hand, tearing of the individual growths of portions of the cake, with veils and proper cut timing showcased below.
However, this could prevent issues with the cake if problems occur during “ripping”. It is often recommended to slice those mushrooms or individual growths with precise taring tools.
Forward, drying of these now harvested mushrooms can be accomplished with constant air circulation, and fanned in a dry spot to an eventually crackly-dry structure.
This may take 24-28 hours. Mushrooms lose 80-90% of their weight with the condensation of water, not affecting the mycelium thankfully, so the harvest will be noticeably smaller after drying a flush.
Flush:
After one initial successful harvest, assuming no contaminants have taken hold, a mushroom substrate such as the one used in this brown-rice flour method, can similarly to the aside process, be cold shocked after the cleaning of vermiculite and soaked in a pot or coldwater Ziploc bag for, not 24 hours this time, but 12-16 hours.
Upon completion of another cold shock or orherwise called a flush, the resulting mushrooms removed from the previous cakes are now the harvestx and a second growth can begin.
Moving Forward
Ensuring techniques are followed, a contaminant free harvest should follow the 2-4 weeks post cake flush.
The very beginning of Agar usage to the now initial harvest of first flush can range from 4 to 10 months, even more, not including time it takes to initially learn the basis of mushroom background, foraging, and other basics.
Remember, the most important thing to remember is that mushroom growth is constantly a learning process, and no two harvests are the same!
As so, always remember, failures happen but that’s the point of failing; to learn where had been wronged.
Being so the most important facet to life, and through a respect and understanding for the natural living bacteria that is mycelium, one can learn important skills essential to daily life.
Albeit dedication, appreciation, or revelation, the possibilities to the utilization of psilocybin and psilocin in an ever changing and depressing world may prove to be the changing point that is needed to make a difference to ourselves and those around us.
Enjoy the hobby and indulge in your outcomes!
